CHAPTER SEVEN: BROKEN AND LOST

1086 Words
XERXES I stood up from the chair slowly and my whole world shattered. I made a big mistake! A grave mistake… she was innocent all along but I didn't believe her. I remembered her tears, her eyes pleading for her innocence. All she wanted was for me to at least believe that she was innocent but I was blinded, I was f×king blinded! I walked out of Kamila's room heading for mine. Blake followed me immediately "Stay with Kamila,"I ordered making him stop and retrace his steps I got to my chamber and locked it before kicking the door hard "F××k!"I cursed pushing down the breakable things I could lay my hands on. "How could I have been so foolish?!"I yelled. Mac remained silent and I was glad he didn't say a thing. What am I going to do now? I wondered, hitting the wall repeatedly with my fist. I reached for a vase on the shelf and I threw it hard against the wall, panting. My hand was bleeding but I still didn't feel better. "It's been three damn days she could be anywhere,"I yelled reminding myself "But it's not too late,"Mac's gentle answer came. I stopped for a while, I looked around me. I have nothing to lose, Kamila was fine and so is the baby, but Kayden may not be so lucky. I grabbed my keys then dropped them again. If I want to find Kayden I'll have to let Mac take the lead. "It's on you man,"I announced in surrender and he took over immediately. He walked out of the mess of a room, the moment Blake saw him he bowed, "Take care of the palace while I'm away,"he commanded and walked away without waiting for Blake's reply. The closest to the palace is the human world, judging from how Kayden behaves that'll be her first option. He headed that way immediately and he took off running wildly. If Kayden walked or ran in her human form, it'll take her a day to get there but if she shifted, a few hours will do. Not wanting to risk anymore than we have, he shifted running along the trees. We got to the city before the sun went down, we walked aimlessly on the street using his vision to cover much. When we got to the market he felt her presence and traced her sniffing to catch her scent. The closer we got the more convinced I became that we would find her. We got to a*****e and there she was. Dressed in baggy clothes, her hair packed in a ponytail outlining her high cheek bone, she looked around nervously even as she smiled at the guy behind the counter. "Thank you,"she whispered walking away, she didn't see me. I followed her out quickly and grabbed her hand turning her around "Kayden," "What the f××k man?"She half yelled and that was when I saw her face properly. It wasn't Kayden "I'm so sorry miss, I mistook you for somebody…"I apologized but she threw me a disgusted look before going away. "s**t,"I cursed under my breath, running my fingers in my hair. The sun was going down and I knew it'd be dangerous for me to be hanging out in the market late." I lodged into a hotel and retired for the night hoping to continue my search the next day. Days turned to weeks and I was still in the human world unable to find Kayden. Everyday I leave the hotel feeling hopeless but once on the street I get my hopes up only for it to be dashed again and I go back worse. I set out again on my usual tour and after going around the city in circles I picked up her scent, very strong… I followed it and it got stronger, I was determined to be sure she was the one before approaching. I have harassed too many ladies already. The scent led me to a small store and I didn't just smell her, I saw her and felt her presence. Her attention was on her phone but she faced my direction giving me a perfect view of her face. There's no doubt that was Kayden, my Kayden. Not wasting any more time, I made to go over to her but Mac stopped me immediately. He seemed to be receiving a message from the mindlink which was a bit faint. "s**t,"he cursed "What's wrong," "We have to head back to the pack, something terrible is happening,"he announced "Is Kamila okay?"I asked worried "I don't know, but we have to go now!" "And Kayden? We can't leave without her,"I reminded him and he took a step a step forward only to stop again "F××k!"He cursed again, receiving another message "we go now!"He barked running out of the mall leaving me clueless "What the hell is happening Mac?"I demanded "I think Kamila is in danger,"he answered, running so fast that people turned to look at him everytime he passed by them. "And the baby?"I asked, feeling guilty for leaving her without a word before she could even fully recover. She would want nothing to do with me after abandoning her when she needed me the most. "I don't know,"he growled shifting, the moment we got out of sight. The air that hung in the palace was so cold that I felt strange. The gloomy faces that welcomed me held displeasure and it only increased the guilt I felt even without knowing what was happening. When I got deeper into the house, I saw some of the maids crying while others had tears on their faces. All I wanted immediately was to find Blake. "Get Blake,"I ordered a maid who bowed and left. I waited at my chamber doing my best to remain calm. "Alpha,"he greeted but I didn't reply or turned to face him "What happened here," "It's Luna… She lost the baby while trying to deliver it."He replied, trying to be as calm as possible. Blake had never liked being the one to deliver bad news, he dreaded it and I could sense his discomfort. I balled my fist, but didn't know what to hit; the wall, the table or myself? Then it rang in my ear again sinking deeper "She lost the baby while trying to deliver it…" I have failed twice and I lost. I found the truth boldly coming to my mind. "I am lost."
