Killian's POV During the meeting with my manager at his fashion house, I couldn't help but steal frequent glances at my wristwatch. My heart thrummed in rhythm with the wall clock. Silence lingered as everyone gave him full attention with their eyes fixed on him. Even as his words echoed in the conference room, I still could not grasp a single word he was saying as my attention had been diverted. Jacques and I had planned to see the famous Raquel Charles today. I am sure he would have arrived at her fashion house by now. I would have been there with him by now, but the unexpected meeting we were having at the time prevented me from accompanying him.. “I believe we are all aware of what to do regarding the new project right?” Mr Herbert, our manager said as he peered into each of our faces. “Yes, sir..” The rest chorused while I kept my tongue tied as my thoughts shifted to the beautiful famous fashionista I saw two days ago.. She looked like a succubus, her ruby lips, her pretty eyes and her flawless white skin. Everything about her captivated me. “Raquel Charles…” I murmured, nodding curtly as I brushed the locks on my forehead with my fingers. She has such a nice name. Everything about her exudes beauty and perfection, and she has a certain aura that captures my attention every single time. I've felt drawn to her for reasons I can't explain. She is the Goddess of Beauty and Design. I can't wait to see and meet her in person. Images of her face raced through my thoughts again, and I swear they appear so genuine. As if she were right here. Standing in front of me. Her facial features registered in my brain and Eleanor's face flashed in my mind. A gasp escaped my lips and my eyes went wide as confusion etched my features. Why does she look so much like Eleanor? I know they might not be the same person but why do they have similar features? “Mr Killian..” “Mr Killian..” . A tap on my shoulder drifted me out of my reverie and I blinked twice as I fixed my gaze on my manager whose narrowed eyes held a quizzical and curious expression. It was then I realized that we were still at the meeting and he was the one calling my name. Sighing, I slipped my fingers into my hair and pulled a smile on my face. Everyone's gazes were on me, making me a little uneasy. My skin crawled at their intense gaze on me and only God knows how long I've been in thoughts. My friend, Alban, nudged me and whispered something inaudible to me. Pretending to understand, I taunted a nod and shifted my gaze back at Mr Herbert who had resumed back to his lectures. Rolling my eyes, I took my gaze to the clock and my jaw dropped when I realized it was almost noon. “F**k!” I growled inaudibly and just then, my phone beeped, grabbing my attention to it. A notification popped up on the screen, and I leaned closer to see what the message contained. It was a message from Taylor. She is currently at work and she texted me about devastating news on her fashion house. She is currently having bad product qualities, employee retention issues, and low sales. Every time she mentions her situation to me, I feel heartbroken and sorry for her, but I refuse to give up on assisting her in restoring the growth of her firm. If connecting her with Raquel is all I need to make her happy, I'll go to great lengths to do it. As I pretended to listen to Mr Herbert's conversation, my phone beeped again, and I shifted my gaze to it. It was a message from Taylor again. This time around, she complained about how disappointed she was meeting Raquel for the first time and how determined she was to see her once again. My brows shot to the roof because I had no clue when she saw her. I was about to text her back but Mr Herbert called my attention to his side once again. “So Mr Killian. Can you give us your opinion about everything we discussed.” He said and I got up slowly, itching my nape as I glanced at the multiple faces staring at me. Clearing my throat, I tried to come up with a good response and luckily for me, I was able to impress them. Just when I thought the meeting would be over, my manager, Me Herbert, made us wait behind without any reason. I sighed as I leaned on the wall and my phone chimed, alerting me of an incoming call. Seeing it was Jacques, I picked up the call, eager to hear what he had to say “Aren't you coming any longer?” He asked impatiently, while I darted my eyes around before letting out a deep sigh. “I'm still going to show up okay. My manager asked us to wait behind after the meeting. We have no clue what he's up to.” "Damn! Raquel is currently at her fashion house. On a regular day, she wouldn't have consented to my plans to meet her at her fashion house. She just consented since we were acquainted. This is your one chance to see her, Killian; please arrive on time before we run out of time. Who knows, this might be our only chance to see her?" "Okay, fine... I'll notify my manager that I need to go somewhere important. " “Good. I'll be waiting for you,” Jacques said lastly before hanging the call. Slipping my phone into my pocket, I walked past Alban but he held my hands, stopping me from going further. “You look worried and a little impatient. Is anything bothering you?” He asked, concerned. “Yes. I have somewhere important I need to be so I have to inform Mr Herbert.” I replied but he closed the distance between us and mumbled, “You know how strict he is.. He won't allow you. He probably have something important to tell us which was why he asked us to wait behind,” “Oh please. Where I'm going is more important than this,” I said, before yanking my hands gently off his grip.. Before I could take a step forward, Mr Herbert walked out of his office, with a smile plastering on his wrinkled face. “I'm so sorry for delaying you guys. You can all leave. Thanks!” He announced and I heaved a sigh of relief. My chest which looked heavy like a stack of bricks was placed on it a while ago was now as light as a feather. Grabbing my bag, I turned around in an attempt to leave but Mr Herbert's abrupt voice stopped me in my tracks. “I want to see you for a moment, Mr Killian.” He said and I felt my chest tighten with my heart plummeting down to my tummy. Clenching my fists, I walked up to him with a phony smile. “I realized you were a little bit distracted during the meeting. Are you okay?” He asked, with his deep blue eyes searching my face, flicking with concern. “Yes. I'm - I'm alright.” I replied and he nodded before permitting me to leave A profound sense of relief washed over me and I boarded the first taxi as soon as I left the building. “Glamour Empire!” I said to the driver who nodded before steering the wheels. My phone chimed and when I saw that it was Taylor, I got curious to understand the last text she sent earlier. “Hi Taylor,” I greeted, waiting for her response. Shoving my hands into my spiky hair, I stared at my reflection in the rearview mirror. “Hi Killian. I know you and Jacques have plans on seeing Raquel today. I want to ask if I can come with you?” “Taylor. You can't. Maybe next time. Jacques might be acquainted with her but they aren't really close. He's only using that opportunity to get closer to her and helping you get some connections with her in turn. Be patient, okay.” “Okay, Killian. I love—-” “---Wait!” I cut her across her words when I remembered what she said about how disappointed and sad she was upon seeing Raquel. “What is it, Killian?” Taylor asked over the phone. “You texted me earlier about your experience after seeing Raquel. When did you see her?” “I - I saw her after the event, Killian. I decided to see her in her lounge,” Taylor replied and I felt angry after hearing what she did. The plan was to make Jacques introduce us to her before reaching out to her for any deals. What the f**k did Taylor just do? “Did I ask you to see her? Why don't you ever listen to me?” “I badly wanted to see her and I had no choice!” She snapped, getting me more enraged. “Why didn't you just stick to what we agreed on doing? Raquel doesn't give a damn about who we are. She has no business with us since we aren't acquainted with her. Jacques is and you should have let him see her first.”. “It's not my fault, Killian..” She mumbled and I let out a sigh of exhaustion. “If Raquel chooses not to work with you, do know that it's her choice, and her decision and not mine!” Saying that last word, I cut my call and slipped my phone in my pocket before caressing my temple. Eleanor's face flashed across my mind again and I felt this connection and unexplainable des ire for her. Since she left, I have never for once forgotten about her. I've been longing to see her someday and I hope I will.
