The jeep stops outside my apartment.
Cole is still sleeping in the backseat when we step out.
Erik walks me to the door and kisses me goodbye. When he turns to leave, I pull him back and wrap my arms around him.
"I have to go." He pecks my forehead.
"Please stay." I moan. "Let's spend one more night together."
"Trust me, there's nothing I want more than that. But I have to get Cole home and check up on my mom. She keeps calling me."
I frown.
"I hope she's okay."
"She is." He sounds sure. "If she wasn't, my grandpa would have told me already. But despite that, I really need to see her."
"Then you should go..."
We share a brief kiss before he turns to leave. After taking a few steps away, he suddenly comes back to me and buries me in a tight embrace.
