Chapter 9

I felt myself being placed on a soft downy bed comforter. I opened my eyes slowly, blinking away the confusion and anxiety. When my eyesight was more clear, I focused on the beautiful eyes that were staring at me from across the room.      "Kiah," I whispered and softly patting the space on the bed next to me. He crossed the room in two strides and sat down, making sure not to touch me yet.       I looked at him and realized how much he truly meant to me. I reached for his hand, touching him softly. "How long have you known?" I asked quietly.      He grinned and brought my hand to his lips and sighed, "since the first day I met you." he replied while kissing my fingertips.       I pulled away, utterly confused. I stuttered, "H..How is that even possible, and how could I have not sensed anything?"      He looked at me, "think, love." he replied in a soothing tone. "You know that you were too young to feel that. Remember, we taught you everything about being a werewolf."      I nodded, remembering my training. "I hadn't hit puberty," I replied, "but it still doesn't make sense that I would only start feeling this now." I looked down, placing my head in my hands as tears started to fall slowly down my cheeks.      He lifted my chin and wiped my tears away with his thumbs. "Yelena, It's because your wolf is finally awake."      I looked at him, surprised and mouthed 'oh.' You're the voice I'm hearing. I thought, and she answered me. Yes. That was all she said to me.      He nodded, understanding why I had stopped asking questions. He knew I was trying to communicate with my wolf.      I glared at him, remembering that he wanted me to hide from the world. "You want me to hide. You want me to run for the rest of my life!" I snarled as I slapped his hands away from my face.      He looked down at his hands in shame. "I understand why you are angry with me, and I apologize, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. It just bothers me that it had to be you. They tried that on other people, and the others have died going through the change your body is going through. But you, you're fine. It's like none of this has phased you, and that scares me. Yelena, I know that it has to be you, and it's going to be dangerous. I don't want you to get hurt." He finished and kissed me lightly on the lips. "I love you, and I don't want anything to happen to you."            I sighed exasperated, "I understand, but you know who I am, and you know exactly how I act. Ever since you taught me how to defend myself and you taught me how to fight, I feel that where I need to be is here. I need to help my father and my brother, they're counting on me, and you know they are. Whether we like it or not, I will be in danger constantly till I finish this." I replied and kissed him back.      I was smiling as I pulled back from our kiss. "It's early, and the sun is coming up. I need to sleep." I said as I laid my head down on the pillow and passed out.
