Chapter 51: Unexpected Brilliance
(Garrett's POV)
The drive back to the compound had been tense and mostly silent. Eliza had stared out the window, clearly uncomfortable with the situation. I couldn't blame her after my behavior at the restaurant.
As we pulled up to the Blackwood Main House, I noticed the lights were still on in the main reception area despite the late hour.
"The children should be with my grandfather," I said, breaking the silence as I parked the car.
Eliza nodded, her expression softening at the mention of the children. "Thank you for bringing them to visit him. Dawn enjoys his company."
We walked side by side into the grand entrance hall, the tension between us momentarily forgotten as we heard the sound of laughter echoing from the Great Hall.
