I still recall the day William approached me, his eyes locked on mine, and his voice barely above a whisper. "Shine, can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked.
We stepped aside, away from the bustling hallway. "Tomi has feelings for you," he said, his words sending a flutter through my chest.
I was taken aback. Tomi, the quiet and introspective one, had never hinted at his feelings.
William's expression turned serious. "He asked me to tell you."
I sensed a hidden motive behind William's words.
"Thanks for telling me," I said, trying to process this new information.
William's eyes lingered on mine, and I felt a spark of attraction.
Unbeknownst to me, Lisa watched our exchange, her heart sinking.
Later that day, Jovia and I discussed William's revelation.
"Tomi's been quiet lately," Jovia said. "I had no idea."
"Me neither," I replied.
Kalvin joined us, his goofy grin a welcome distraction.
"Hey, what's up?" he asked.
"Tomi's got feelings for Shine," Jovia said.
Kalvin's expression turned thoughtful.
"I knew it," he said. "He's been acting strange."
That evening, the four boys – Kalvin, William, Tomi, and Jack – gathered for a group study on history.
Their discussion turned to influential historical figures: Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Albert Einstein.
"As leaders, they shaped the world," Kalvin said.
"Yet, their personal struggles humanized them," Tomi added.
William nodded. "Their legacies continue to inspire."
Jack remained silent, lost in thought.
As they concluded, the conversation shifted to the girls.
Tomi inquired about William's progress with me.
Jack revealed his secret crush on Lisa.
The night air was filled with tension.
