ANNA
"Honey, are you okay? Is she disturbing?" Richard asked, and my eyes almost popped out.
Did he just call me another sweet name?
If not for this little boy, I would have tagged him as a playboy, and still, who would know that? Maybe the boy was a way to get my attention.
"What did you just call me?" I asked with a frown.
Even Eva seemed lost in the scene, and I wasn't ready to give her any attention. I needed to know why I was followed.
Though I love the way he calls me sweet names and how he makes me feel so protected, His voice was calm, and he asked with so much concern. I knew he asked because of how Eva and I stared at each other.
"I am not..." I was about to continue since he wasn't going to answer. He only stood still, looking at me like I was his lost treasure.
I knew I wanted a man in my life. I wanted to know how it felt to be in love; I never knew. It's all about first love in sight and all that, but this is just too much.
"Mommy, come with us." The little pup said that, and my heart melted.
I diverted my eyes to him, and he had a bright smile on.
“Dear, I am not sure about that. You see, the truth is, I look like your mom, but I am not her, and she is not me."
I'm still trying to make the little boy understand. He turned to his dad with a frown.
"But dad, you told me she was my mom. You should send me her picture."
He debated pointing at me, but instead of Richard giving a response, he just lowered his head.
What's all this drama about? I feel like it's all a dream, and I need to wake up from it. I turned my face to Eva, but soon I faced Richard and his little pup.
He bent down, not up to his son's height but down enough to look into the pup's eyes. He had a sad facial expression on his face.
"Son, I know. I did show you your mother's picture, and she looks exactly like her. I am as confused as you are. I think she's your mom's lookalike. We have to go now!” Richard's voice was husky.
What I heard next shook me to my bones.
“Since she's my mom's lookalike, let's take her."
The little pup turned to me.
"Miss, can you be my mom?"
I looked at Eva and then at Richard. The pup was serious; he even approached me with a bold smile.
“I want a mom, and since you look like her, I will like you to live with us."
I wanted to say yes, but how can I? His father had rejected me even before knowing who I was. I cannot agree to that. I am not desperate to get married off, and obviously not to someone who wants me as a replacement.
“I will think about that.” I whispered to him, and he looked excitedly hopeful. “I wish to take my leave now.” I added, and without a second thought, I turned and walked away, leaving Eva and my supposed fiance.
The songs from the event were loud enough for me to track, and soon I got there. From afar, I saw my half-sister talking with someone. It's celebrant. I had come only because he had invited me. He was old, but still very healthy and cheerful. That was what made me love him.
Arabella caught sight of me and frowned. I guess she was still upset with what happened earlier. She never saw it coming, and if not for anything, I was grateful Richard came in.
Without minding her facial expression, I approached, focusing my eyes on the celebrant. He was so happy to see me, unlike my half-sister. I looked around to see her friends rolling their eyes at me.
Figures, like I care about whatever they were thinking.
Though Richard kissed me, thinking I was someone else, I was glad it did happen. To them, I was able to pull a dead generous man and have him kiss me in public, not minding the stares of everyone.
"Oh, my dear, you look so pretty!” He said it with a smile, and I couldn't help but smile back.
He kissed my hand right in front of my half-sister. If it were to be before the kiss, Arabella would have uttered something hurtful, but this time, she only gave me an angry face. I would have called her an angry bird, but no, since she's been quiet, I love it that way.
“Thank you! And you don't look bad either.” I complimented. Then she continued, “So, how is the party going?" I asked, looking around.
The place is almost filled. And with the way everyone looked in my direction, I could tell that news had already spread. They might be expecting me to come in with the man I kissed.
After having a cheap chat with the celebrant, I left, but Arabella followed me. She must have gotten some ideas. Who knows what she wants this time? I turned, and she stopped.
Her frown turned to a smirk.
"Nice one you pulled. Did he, after kissing you, cut ties with you, calming that you're not his type? Oh, sister, I will understand. You know, for a minute, I almost believed."
I couldn't let her finish. I'm already having a headache, and it's tiring.
“If you want him as well, try your luck. And sorry for that. Do you want to know the reason he dragged me out? He was begging to marry me.” I said it proudly.
Though it wasn't all true, I needed to say that to get her off my back. She was literally the insect that wouldn't go away. I had to use her weak point.
On hearing me, Arabella angrily walked away to join her stupid set of bitchy friends.
I walked over to a chair. I was exhausted from all the drama. From the kiss to Eva and the little pup.
RICHARD
I mistakenly called her 'honey'. I don't know if I will ever stop seeing her as my mate. There is no doubt that her shape, eyes, and look are alike. It can't be Angel because I saw her die.
"What did you just call me?" She asked with an angry stare.
Her eyes could stab, and I just had to look away.
"I am not..." She was about to add her words when Andy interrupted her.
He wanted her to come with us. He doesn't want to stop. I won't blame him; he always wanted to feel motherly love. I raised him all by myself, and I know how hard it can be. How I wish she would agree, but from her facial expression, she seems to be upset. Maybe we were disturbing her or something.
I bent down and talked Andy into believing she was a lookalike. Even for me, honestly, I still have my brain spinning.
Angel never told me about having a twin sister. I could swear they have the same marks on their bodies. And again, the way I feel around her. Like the kiss, it was familiar and alluring. It reminded me of my mate and my only love.
“I want a mom, and since you look like her, I will like you to live with us.”
Hearing Andy's words, I almost choked. I turned to him, and he looked serious. He even approached her, and it made my heart break even more. It shows how desperate he was to have a mom. He even went as far as begging her to pretend to be his mom just because they looked alike.
I was about to stop Andy when I heard the young lady's response.
“I will think about that. I will take my leave now."
She turned and started to walk away. I wanted to stop her and ask for her name, but I was just glued. Not even my mouth opened. I just watched her walk slowly out of sight. Everything about her brought back sad memories.
Andy and I left the woods, holding hands together. I haven't seen my son so excited in a long time. It was good to see him in a good, cheerful state again.
We got to the birthday party, and it was crowded. The celebrant wasn't in sight.
The party was going just fine. And soon, it was time to dance. But I wasn't in the mood. I don't know if it was the alcohol I had or if it was all real and not some hallucination.
“Hey handsome!” A feminine voice woke me back to reality.
I raised my head to see who it was, and it happened to be the beautiful granddaughter of the celebrant, called Jane.
Can I have a dance?" She stretched out her hand to take mine.
I had known Jane for a while now, and being the granddaughter of the celebrant, I didn't want to object because people were already watching. It won't be nice to disgrace the host's granddaughter.
As we got to the dancing hall, everyone started to whisper among themselves.
Jane was as wealthy as her grandfather and a spoilt she wolf. She has a charming, seductive body, and she had the belief that, with a body like that, no man would resist her. Many men crawled to her feet and praised her like a goddess. But unfortunately, I don't see her like the others; she's just like every other girl out there.
After the dance, Andy ran in my direction and suddenly frowned at Jane.
"Dad, who is she?" He asked.
"I am a friend, and I would love to spend some time with your dad.” She was still grinning, and I don't know what that means.
Andy turned to me with questions written all over his face.
"Why not stay with Mom instead? She is all alone." He suggested, not minding that Jane could hear him well.
"Andy, we've talked about this severally. She isn't here!"
I had to. He wasn't helping matters for me.
"Since she isn't here, I can have you then." Jane, too, didn't care if Andy approved it or not.
"I know where she is." Andy paused and turned in a direction. "There she is!" He pointed.
Truly, she was the one. The she-wolf we met earlier. There she was, sipping her drink and hiding from the world like myself. She just sat and watched everyone dance.
Andy dragged me there, and all she did was smile. Not at me, but at Andy.
ANNA
All the dramas kept playing so wildly in my head. That Richard guy had walked his way here and disrupted my day, if not my life.
Who the heck is he?
I then remembered that he said he was the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. Isn't that where my third fiancé should come from?
It can't be him, right?
But the Blue Moon Pack has only one Alpha, and he is my fiance, who rejected me. Immediately, all my systems fought each other. My shock knew no bounds, and I scared the room to look for him, only to meet his staring eyes.
What exactly is he thinking right now? Did he already know that I'm the fiance he rejected and that he regrets what he did?
Why are a lot of confusing things happening to me today?
Not long after, I saw him, his son, and a female walk towards me. Why are they coming close? I don't want any more complications today.
The little one ran towards me, and his father followed. He didn't leave the hands of his father. This made the two of us look at each other. Then I looked at the female too.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you." Richard had to apologize like a controlled robot.
I didn't say a thing.
"Darling, stay here with Anna. Your dad and I will be back soon." Jane said before pulling Richard along.
She was obviously forcing herself on him. And not like I'm jealous; it's okay since I don't care.
The little one, on the other hand, wore a sad look, and I got to know that his name is Andy. From what the little pup has been saying, I think he's been lied to. His mother is probably dead, but they don't wish to hurt his feelings, so Richard gave him false hope. No wonder he thinks I'm his mother.
"I don't want any females around my daddy," the little pup cried out.
I don't know what a little boy knows about females and males, but I could see that he is a wise one.
Then he begged me to go take his father away from that female, saying he did not like her. After much pestering, I decided to help him so that
he would at least stop disturbing me. Well, it's only for today.
Though I'm okay babysitting Andy, I only wonder what Jane is up to. Does she intend to seduce him into mating with her?
