Maddison's POV
Click. Clack.
Click. Clack.
The sound of her high heels on marble floors used to be sickening to Maddison’s stomach. When she had just joined Harrison Enterprises, that unceasing sound was an indication that somebody important was probably coming to tell her that she had done something wrong.
Now, things were different.
And now the same sound caused the entire hallway to cease.
People stopped talking. Men in suits attempted to knot their neck ties with awkward fingers. A new man, perhaps David, leaned flat against the wall.
