The next morning, Anne dragged herself to work, her mind still reeling from the strange encounter with him. She didn't know who he was or what he wanted. She had tried to push the thoughts aside, but they lingered, refusing to be ignored. Her heart was racing as she tried to focus on the orders in front of her. Anne found herself glancing at the door somewhat expecting the stranger to walk in. But he didnt.
Instead, she was surprised to see him standing outside the shop, watching her through the window. His eyes locked onto hers, sending a shiver down her spine. Anne's heart was racing now, her mind whirling with questions and a hint of fear. After all James and Rachel had put her through, she didn't need any other drama in her life.
Anne tried to focus on work, but her eyes kept drifting back to the window, where he stood watching her. What did he want from her? And why was he watching her like that? Just as she was going to lose her mind, the door to the coffee shop burst open and James walked in. Anne's heart sank as she saw him, his eyes scanning the room until it landed on her.
"Anne, can we talk?" James asked, his voice low and smooth.
Anne felt a surge of anger mixed with pain. How could he even show his face here, after what he had done?
"I don't think so," Anne said, her voice cold.
James took a step closer to her, his eyes pleading. "Anne, please. I can explain..."
But before he could finish, a sleek black car pulled up outside the coffee shop. The door opened, and a well-dressed woman stepped out.
"Ms. Anne," the woman said, her voice crisp and professional. "Mr. Liam is waiting for you."
Anne's eyes widened in surprise as she turned to face the woman. "Who's Mr. Liam?" she asked.
The woman smiled politely. "Mr. Liam is a... business associate. He's been trying to reach you all morning."
Anne's eyes narrowed as she turned to face James. "I think I need to take this," she said.
James's face fell, but Anne just turned and followed the woman out of the coffee shop.
As they walked to the car, Anne couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. She was glad to be escaping James's awkward attempts at reconciliation.
But as she got into the car and saw Liam sitting in the backseat, Anne's heart skipped a beat. He was even more handsome than she had remembered, with piercing blue eyes and chiseled features.
"Good morning, Ms. Anne," Liam said, his voice smooth and confident. "I trust you're doing well."
Anne felt a surge of annoyance at his formal tone. "I'm doing fine, thanks," she said.
Liam smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Good. I'm glad to hear that. Now, shall we discuss the reason I've brought you here today?"
Anne raised an eyebrow, curious despite herself. "What is it?" she asked.
Liam leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I believe we can help each other, Ms. Anne," he said. "I have a business proposition that I think you'll find... interesting."
Anne's eyes narrowed as she tried to read Liam's expression, and he was not as rude as before. What kind of business proposition could he possibly have in mind?
But before she could ask any questions, Liam's phone rang. He answered it, listening for a moment before responding.
"Yes, I'm aware of the situation," he said. "Take care of it."
As he hung up the phone, Anne couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. Who was this man, and what kind of power did he wield?
"Who are you?" Anne asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Liam smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm a billionaire, Ms. Anne," he said. "And I'm here to make you an offer you can't refuse."
Anne's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Liam. A billionaire? What kind of offer could he possibly have in mind?
And why did she have the feeling that her life was about to change forever?
