Max drew back as Alisander stood behind Ethan. "I'm sorry," Max pleaded, turned around, and went his way.
Alisander overtook Ethan standing facing Davina.
"I'm sorry he bumped into you" Alisander pleaded to Davina.
"He should be the one apologising. Why are you apologising?" Davina asked, throwing her arms wide.
Ethan shook his head looking frustrated. "Why are we here? I shouldn't have met with this kind of bad vibes, first it was this" he said pointing at Davina, "second it was that," he said pointing towards where Max passed, "and thirdly, here again!" he finally said pointing at Davina.
"Davina! You are still here!" Sanita shouted.
Davina stared at Ethan. "I don't have your time." She said and walked away, then a chain fell off from her hand as she ran because she'd receive a lot of nagging for getting late.
Seconds later after she had disappeared, Ethan found the necklace on the floor. It is a two piece fixed on one chain, he stared at it, and saw Davina's name on one of the pieces, "Davina. P.? Ridiculous" Ethan scoffed putting the chain in his pocket as they all continued their tour.
Max got home, and one of his apprentices opened the door for him. He took off his jacket, and placed it on the nearest chair in the room as he took his seat.
"Joan, please, bring me my journal" Max requested.
"Okay Master" Joan answered and hurriedly went inside.
Joan walked swiftly with his two thin legs, and his thin hands holding the big journal. He gave it to Max.
"Master, you did not take your pill today" Joan reminded him.
Max thought about it then smacked the table making Joan frightened.
"I knew there was something missing when I couldn't get his scent" Max said. "Please, always remind me whenever I'm going out." Max told Joan.
"Okay, Master" Joan answered and left his presence.
The Five-Star Mansion
Kelvin, Sasha, Logan, and Ivy were all seated silently, and Ivy broke the silence.
"When is he coming?" Ivy asked.
"Very soon" Sasha replied.
Seconds later...
"He is coming" Logan said, and they all looked towards the door.
Footsteps of someone walking majestically filled the room, and they all looked at the door. The door went wide open, and a man walked in. His hair, beards, and moustache were all white, and his clothes were all white too.
"I'm late, and I'm sorry for that. What killed the last Alpha?" He said.
"Won't you first take a seat?" Logan said.
Boaz Udezero, the underdog of the Wolves war, becoming the overseer of the alpha and the whole pack calmly sat down on the chair that looks like a throne.
"So, where was I?" He asked.
"The Alpha died yesterday, I saw the figure, and it looked like a female, but a very powerful witch I must say" Kelvin explained.
"Now, we need to name the new alpha" Sasha added.
Boaz smirked, placing his hand on his chin...
"Don't tell me..." Logan said, shaking his head negatively as he stared at Boaz. Boaz noticed and he stared back.
"Yes... What you are thinking, that's what I want" Boaz cleared his thoughts.
Boaz stood up...
"No one!" He stopped and looked at everyone, "No one will have to say they need a new leader when I'm still capable. The next alpha must not die with me being the leader." He said and they all stared at him.
He signalled to one of the workers.
"Bring me my pen, and longbook" Boaz ordered.
"Okay, Sir"
The worker brought the book before Boaz, and placed it on the table.
"For them to take it more seriously... We are doing it the old fashioned way" Boaz said, opening the book, taking out the ink and the inkcase, requesting for a knife.
"Hey, bring me a knife" Boaz ordered.
The worker ran to and fro, giving the knife to Boaz, then he slightly sliced the palm of his hands, and his hand dripped blood. Everyone in the room watched silently as he filled the inkcase with his blood, took out a note, and started writing...
The vicinity of Valdec City was filled with children playing catch and run, some teenagers playing football, some cycling, some chatting, and the adults were busy feeding their eyes with what the kids and teenagers were doing as they yelled excitedly at them. It seems they had all forgotten about the Alpha's death.
Griffin Sabatoré, a relative of the dead Alphas, is seated with a group of people as they discuss.
"You should be the next Alpha" Laura, one of the four best friends to Griffin said.
"Yes, I guess so..." Griffin answered.
"Who will be the Beta?" Lucia asked as she grinned, and she received a s***k from the hugest among them, Hugo.
"What's that for!" Lucia yelled.
"He hasn't found his mate, why don't you go and find yours though?" Hugo said as he smiled sheepishly at Laura, and Laura returned it.
"For the time being, I'm going to stand by him. I'm the best for the position" Lucia said.
"In your dreams, red-haired girl" Silvestre muttered.
"What did you say young man?" Lucia asked as she stood up to meet Silvestre who wasn't moved by her rant at all.
"Rest..." He said.
They became distracted as they saw one of the workers in the Five-Star Mansion pasting something on the notice board. After the worker had finished pasting, everyone rushed there because it is when something terrible and exciting comes up, that is when something like this is being put up, so to fulfill their curiosity level, they all rushed there.
Griffin tried to read from a distance, but it wasn't working, so he pushed forward. He got to the forefront, and he slightly opened his mouth upon what he saw. Hugo also forced his way into the crowd, and read the announcement, he also opened his mouth.
"This is wrong" He said to himself.
"I know right?" Griffin answered and they both stared at each other.
Davina was coming from the market feeling frustrated because she had lost her chain. She walked slowly trying to look for it, then she overheard two girls talking.
"Have you seen the announcement made today?" Girl one asked.
"Yes, I have." Girl two answered.
"It is going to be a tough one for Griffin" Girl One said.
"Griffin is gonna grief" Girl two added and they both laughed.
Davina tried thinking about what would have made them mention Griffin's name. She shrugged her shoulders and she continued looking for her lost chain.
Ashley, Alisander, and Ethan got home. Ashley opened the door, and saw her Mom setting the table.
"So fast. We have never eaten by this time before" Ashley said.
"After the meeting, when there was nothing, I came home to prepare something. It is not like you would have helped." Ivy said as she placed the cups beside each plate.
Ethan removed Davina's chain from his back pocket, placing it on the table. Ivy saw the chain, and quickly took hold of her attention.
"Who owns that?" Ivy asked, pointing at the chain.
Ethan saw what Ivy was pointing at, he immediately took hold of it. "It is for a friend" He said putting it back into his pockets as he stared at Ivy suspiciously.
"When did you start making friends though?" Ivy asked, and that ignited the scene that happened at the centre park.
"Mommy, something happened at the park today" Ashley was filled with energy as she continued. "Ethan bumped into a girl, and they almost got into a fight." Ashley explained turning to Alisander. "If not for Alis-- sorry, if not for Al, he would have gotten beaten by the angry girl" Ashley narrated.
Ivy looked at Ethan, and Ethan stared at Ashley as if he wanted to give Ashley a death wish in the next few seconds. Alisander just smiled watching both of them.
Davina delivered what Sanita sent her, and hurriedly left the place to avoid being called again. She succeeded in the quest and walked home silently thinking about the Chain. She got home and greeted Ava and Evans, her mother, and eldest brother since when her parents died.
"Good evening Mom" Davina greeted.
"Welcome" Ava answered.
"Welcome" Evans answered too as he carried two logs of wood on each arm.
"Don't flaunt your muscles too much, ama break them one day!" Davina jokes, and Evans laughs.
Davina walked over to Ava who was peeling some orange.
"Mommy?" She said,
"hun" Ava hummed.
"I don't know how to say this"
"Just say it anyhow, I'm listening"
"My chain got missing today"
Ava stopped what she was doing and stared at Davina.
"You what?" She asked.
"I lost the chain you gave to me" Davina said.
"Why would you!" Ava shouted.
Evans heard Ava's loud voice and rushed in.
"Why the shouting?" Evans asked.
Davina looked at him. Evans stared at both of them.
"Will someone say something please?" Evans' curiosity was on another level as he seemed to be a little bit panicked.
"She misplaced her chain" Ava said.
"What!" Evans shouted.
Davina stood up...
"I'll look for it, and I promise to find it" Davina promised.
"Please do, that chain must not be in the wrong hands, if it is, we are closer to our extinction" Ava explained, and Davina looked disturbed.
Max was busy sorting out some files on his shelf when one of his apprentices walked in.
"Master, Master"
"What is that Philip?" Max asked, still busy with what he was doing.
"They had put on an announcement on how they will choose the next Alpha" Philip explained.
"Okay, how?" Max answered, now getting interested in the conversation.
"It is by competition - A versus battle" Philip explained, and Max smiled.
"Is that all?" He asked me to pick up a scroll from the table.
"No Master, the only rule of the competition is fight to death." Philip said.
Max halted as he wanted to put the scroll back on the shelf - he turned around.
"fight to death?" He asked again.
"Yes Master, to death" Philip answered.
"This isn't helpful" Max smiled devilishly.
"And the announcement was written in blood" Philip added.
Max stopped smiling. He glanced towards Philip.
"With what?" Max asked.
"With blood Master" Philip answered.
"Boaz Udezero" Max whispered, took his coat, and went out. Philip followed.
"Master your pil--" Max had exited the door before he finished talking.
