Chapter 14

Jax Emilia. I meant what I said. I am coming back to her. She makes me feel alive again, even with her absence in the car, I still feel her. I feel her hands roaming my body, then clawing at my back. Her hands are so soft, yet deadly, but also gentle. Emilia was not what I thought. When Sara said that she was an assassin, I saw a killer with muscles who didn’t care for life. A killer with no heart. I kept waiting for her to drop the act. Instead, I see a curvy toned woman who was smart, strong, and caring. I smile just thinking about her. I think I’m falling for her, and we just met a couple of days ago. Emilia. A log cabin appeared down the road and I pulled over. If Jones was there, I don’t want him to see me. I drove into the woods shielding myself in the trees. I waited until nightfall to slip inside. I watched and waited until the moon brighten the sky, then move towards the cabin. I moved quietly as possible, avoiding twigs and rocks. I sneaked towards the back where a door lay. I pried it open and walked in. I entered the dark kitchen and heard movement coming from the living room. I slowly made my way across the kitchen and peeked into the other room. He’s here, Jones. Looking out the window, he stood there his body relaxed like he has no care in the world. I took a step forward, but stopped when the floorboard creaked underneath me. Jones immediately turned around eyes wide with shock. We both lunged forward, our fists in the air making contact with each other's faces. Jones punched my gut as I elbowed his chest. He staggered back, and I charged with full power, slamming him into the ground. I punched him in the face over and over again until he blacked out. I rose and took a chair from the kitchen. I sat him on the chair and used the rope I brought from Emilia’s and tied him up. I placed duct tape over his mouth and slapped his face a couple of times to wake him. He came to and started to squirm. “It’s no use,” I say. “I’m very good at tying people up.” I start pulling out my knives from my bag and put it on the table so he can see the different sizes. He didn’t flinch, which I expected because he does what I do. “You know why I’m here, Jones. You threatened someone I l-…care about.” I couldn’t say the l-word. I stopped. Why? Was it because my feelings for Emilia have grown so much over a very short period of time? My feelings for her have grown sporadically. I wish Emilia was here now. I miss her touch. I shook my head. Pull it together, Jax. As soon as you’re done, the sooner you can go back to her. No more wasting time. I grabbed a blade, and before I stuck it in his gut I said, “I am really sorry about killing Vanessa. I don’t hurt or kill women. It caused me grief, but you threatened to kill Sara and I can’t allow you to live. The least I can do is reunite you with Vanessa.” Jones breathed out and closed his eyes. I wanted to torture him, but Jones was Emilia’s friend. With one smooth move I sliced his throat. I watched as his body slumped forward and life left him. I packed up my things and went to the kitchen. I grabbed all the liquor and pour it all over the place. With my bag in hand, I went to the kitchen door and opened it. I lit a match and threw it watching as the fire came to life. By the time I got to the car, the cabin had burnt to the ground. It’s done. Jones was dead and now all I can think about was getting back to Emilia.
