Chapter 14

Silence.
Not the good one, but the awkward one. Miraculously, Victoria and Chris let us stay for dinner, even though we didn't want to. The only thing that was heard was everyone eating. But no one said a word. Gerard was the exception, but I wish he hadn't opened his mouth:
"So, Scott, Allison," he started, putting his fork down. "Can I know the reason of why you two broke up?"
The piece of steak that was running down my throat got stuck, and it made me choke. Same happened with Scott and Allison. Now the awkward silence became even more awkwarder, if that's even a word. Doesn't he know that Scott and I are DATING?! I mean, he sees us everyday at school, but he hasn't seen us cuddling or kissing?! Didn't he see us in his car?! Isn't he seeing us right now holding hands???!!!
"Grandpa, please" Allison said, almost glaring at him.
"No, why don't you two answer this question?" Victoria said smirking as she looked at me.
Ugh, how I hated her. I swear that if I had the chance to punch her right now, I would. She's so... irritating!
"No mum, you know very well that Scott and Penny are dating" Allison snapped.
YOU GO, ALLISON!!!!
Victoria looked taken aback by this, and she was about to yell at Allison but Gerard spoke first. "Scott and Penny are dating? Why, I had no idea"
'Of course you didn't' I thought sarcastically, rolling my eyes mentally.
"Yes, they are, grandpa" Allison said.
"Scott, can I talk to you in the kitchen?" Chris said, and by the sound of his voice, I knew it was no good.
Scott knew about it, too. He looked kinda scared at first, but he managed to nod and stand up, following Chris to the kitchen.
Great.
Now I'm stuck here with Victoria and Gerard. At least Allison's here, but it still feels awkward. "So, girls, everything alright in school?" Gerard said breaking the ice.
"Yeah" both Allison and I muttered at the same time.
I was looking at my plate this whole time, but I could feel Victoria's fiery eyes on me.
And the awkward silence began... AGAIN!!
Thank God Scott and Chris came back minutes later. After that, Allison stood up. "Please excuse us, we have to do some... homework"
And before any of them could say anything, we left the dinning room.
Obviously we weren't going to do any homework. We were going to Gerard's room and try to find the Bestiary. Hopefully, we will find it.
"Where do we look first?" Scott said.
"How about there?" I said, pointing to the safe next to the closet.
"Right"
The safe had a combination lock, and we were trying every combination that came to our minds. None of them worked.
"Darn it!" I hissed as I tried one last time. "It's no use"
Allison sighed frustrated as Scott pressed his ear against the safe, trying one more time.
It didn't take him long enough to open the freaking safe. How? I don't know...
Oh right! His werewolf hearing!
"Good job, Scott" Allison said.
Inside the safe was the same leather bound book I saw when Gerard came to my house. Jackpot!
"Here it is" Allison said, picking up the book.
We all smiled in victory. After a long time of looking for this book, we finally found it! And now we were going to find out what was in it! Allison slowly opened the book. When she did we stared at it blankly...

... A cookbook?
A FREAKING COOKBOOK???!!!
"I am pretty sure this isn't the right book" Scott said.
Allison and I gave him a 'You-Think?' look, and he just shrugged.
Suddenly Scott's phone started to ring and Allison started to panic. "Scott, turn it off!"
He quickly picked it up. "Can't talk right now, Stiles. Call you later"
Why was it that I had a feeling that something happened to Stiles?
Ignoring that feeling, I asked, "What do we do now?"
"I don't know. Gerard's too smart to keep the book in view" Scott said.
"Wait a minute," Allison said, raising her head up high. "What about the flash drive on Gerard's key ring? Maybe it has something important?"
"You're right!" I said, gasping in realization.
"Maybe I should go to the school and look in his office. Stiles has the keys and he'a probably still there" Scott said as the three if us stood.
"Yeah, you should" Allison said nodding.
"I'll go with you" I added.
He shook his head. "No, Penny. You go take care of Bryson. I don't want anything happening to you"
I was about to protest, but he was right. My parents were still out of town, and Bryson was sick. Even though Ginny was taking care of him I should go help her, 'cause Jake's not very good at this things, so yeah...
I nodded. "Okay. Take care"
He nodded back as he pecked me on the lips. I gave a small smile as he left. Then I turned to Allison. "I guess I should be leaving, too"
She smiled at me. "I'll see you tomorrow"
"Okay. Bye" I said as I hugged her.
And after that, I walked to my house...
