Chapter 17

We are sure some lucky people. Bryson's not sick anymore. Yeah, and I know it happened all of a sudden, but I'm not objecting! I'm not objecting, at all!

Anyways, now that he's feeling well, he can help us protect Lydia. Karen and Scarlet will be helping, too. I'm really glad that they're helping us, 'cause they both like Derek, but they chose to help friends first. How sweet! I have to thank them later....

So, here we are, at Scott's house waiting for him. It took me by surprise when I saw Jackson was here, but deep inside, veeeeryy deep inside, I was grateful with him. Maybe he isn't that stupid, after all... huh, yeah right.

"Penny, look" Allison said looking through the window.

At first, I thought that Scott had arrived, but then I analyzed the sound of her voice, and I knew that wasn't the reason she had called me. It was something bad, I could tell. So, I stood next to her and looked through the window as well. Yup, it was bad. There they were, standing there, just looking at the house.

Derek, Erica, Isaac and Boyd.

"Oh, God. They're going to kill her" I breathed.

"What do we do now?" she asked panicked.

"Call Scott" I said taking out my phone, dialing Scott's number.

Karen's POV

I saw Penny talking to Scott whilst Allison kept an eye on the pack that was outside. Right now, I feel like Derek's my worst enemy. And i'm not saying that because he likes Scarlet or something like that, i'm saying that because he wants to kill a good friend of mine. Of course, I want to help Penny and the others to protect Lydia, but I don't wanna hurt Derek. I can leave that to the others.

"Hey" Stiles said as he sat next to me.

"Hey" I said quietly, giving him a small smile as I played with my thumbs.

"Something wrong?" he said.

"Everything's wrong" I replied, chuckling a little.

"Why do you say that?" he asked eyeing me curiously.

I just shrugged. "Things happening"

"Please don't tell me that it has to do with Derek"

I looked at him in disbelief. Can he read my mind, or something like that? I swear the guy's like a psychic.

In reply, I nodded, but it was barely noticeable. He sighed. "Did he do something to you?"

I shook my head. "It's just that he likes Scarlet, and then I realized that I still like him"

"I thought you were over him"

"Yeah, I did, too, but apparently I was wrong"

"You know, that happened to me, too" he said.

I grimaced. "You like Derek??!!"

"God, no!!!," he said, giving me an 'Are-You-Crazy?!' look. "I'm talking about Lydia!"

I sighed in relief as I breathed, "Oh. You scared me there. Anyways, I wanted to ask you, how could you and Penny deal with this pain? You know, seeing the person you love with another person"

He looked down for a moment. I could see hurt in his eyes as he replied, "There are other things in life that we have to enjoy. We couldn't just be sad the whole time just because of them"

And after he said that, I realized it was true. I can't be sad just because Derek's not with me. Sure, it hurts, but i'm surrounded with people that love me. I have my parents, I have Penny and Bryson, I have my friends, I have Scott, I have Lydia, I have Stiles, Allison, Scarlet -even if she's with Derek-, Ajax... I can't suffer for one single person, when I have all of them.

I looked at him and smiled. "You're right"

"I know I am" he said.

I chuckled a little and planted a light kiss on his cheek, placing my head on his chest as he hugged me. "Thanks Stiles"

"Anytime, little Red" he said under my hair.

"Scott's coming" Penny said placing her phone in her pocket. "Where's Lydia?"

"In Scott's bedroom, with Jackson" Bryson replied.

"Maybe I should call my dad" Allison said taking out her phone.

"No," Stiles said as we both stood up. "I don't think that's a good idea. If he comes, he will kill every single werewolf in this house, including Scott"

"And if he finds out that i'm a werewolf, he might kill me, too" Bryson added.

"You guys are right. Sorry" Allison said, shaking her head.

"Why don't we shoot them?" Scarlet said, forgetting about the fact that Derek was there.

"Yeah, maybe that could work" Stiles said standing next to Penny, as she and Allison took out their crossbows and arrows.

As they do, I walk to where they are and stare out the window. They were still there, but I realized something. One of them was missing, and it was Isaac.

"You guys," I said, now looking at them. "Where's Isaac?"

Confused about what I just said, they all looked through the window. "Crap" I heard Stiles mutter.

"What do we do now?" I said, now feeling a little scared.

"Here," Scarlet says, handing me a knife. "Take this, and hide in a room"

"But I wanna help you guys" I pleaded.

"We know, Karen, but-" she was cut off by a loud crash.

"What was that?" Allison said.

We all stood silent, none of us dared to move. Okay, so maybe i'm pretty scared right now because I don't have a crossbow and some arrows, or because I don't have a Katana or know any Kung Fu skills. So i'm holding this knife for dear life. Where's Scott when you need him?

Then all of a sudden, I see Isaac attacking Stiles from behind. That's when I get pretty scared. Then as Stiles falls to the ground, he attacks Penny and Allison, leaving them with no crossbow in hands. He tries to attack Scarlet, but she has her big Katana. With her butt-kicking skills, she knocks him on the ground and grabs my hand. "Hide, please"

Too scared to argue with her, I nod and hide on the nearest room.

Penny's POV

"We have to get Lydia!" I say as I grab my crossbow.

Allison nods in agreement, and we go towards Scott's room. Luckily, we found her in the middle of the hall. "What's going on?" she said.

"Lydia, listen to us, someone's trying to break in. You have to hide" Allison said.

As she said this, I could see Lydia getting scared. Not that she wasn't scared. She manages to nod, and quickly goes hiding in the bathroom. Allison and I entered Scott's room. I locked the door, and when we turned around we saw kanima venom dripping from the window frame. "Oh no" I breathed.

"Wait a minute," Allison said, stepping closer to the window. "If the kanima got out, then that means that... Lydia's not the Kanima"

It took me a moment to realize that she was right. I mean, I always knew that Lydia wasn't the Kanima, but now we know that the Kanima's out there and Lydia's in here. "I have an idea" I said walking to the window.

I grabbed one of my arrows and treated it with some of the venom. "I don't think an ordinary arrow would work, but if it has venom on it, it could paralyze them, right?"

"Penny, you're a genius" she said, getting some venom on her arrow, as well.

"Thank you" I said.

Suddenly, we hear someone trying to break the door. It was after a minutes that Erica managed to crash it. She smirked as we pointed our crossbows in her direction. "Well, well, well. What do we have here? Two sisters trying to protect their friend, how sweet. But, i'm afraid no one can protect her right now. We're going to kill her, everyone will be happy, and.... I can have Scott all to myself"

Anger built up inside of me as she said that. Can't she realize that Scott will never be hers??!! He doesn't date cows.

I think my anger could be seen, 'cause then she said, "What's wrong, Penny? Don't you like a little of competition? I do, but... you're not much of a competition. Are you afraid to lose him because of me?"

At this point, I was going to lose it, but I didn't. Instead, I loose my arrow, which she quickly catched. As if we had told her a joke, she chuckled. "You really thought that this was going to work?"

As both Allison and I put our crossbows down, I smirked, replying, "Actually... we did"

She stopped laughing as she looked from the arrow to us. Then, she fell to the floor, completely paralyzed. We walked towards her, staring at her, satisfied. "I thought she was a psychic" Allison said.

"Really?" I said sarcastically.

"Yeah, today she said that she was one, 'cause she could see her and Scott in the future"

How silly. 'Go and bother someone else' I thought as I chuckled a little and said, "b***h"

So, since Isaac was unconscious -thanks to Scarlet- and Erica was still paralyzed, we couldn't have them in the house. So, we grabbed them and threw them out of the house, where Derek and Boyd were waiting. We got out of the house, and now we were facing them.

"Well done, Scott," Derek said, smirking a little. "You're no longer an Omega. You're an Alpha, of your own pack"

Scott didn't say anything, 'cause then we heard some sirens in the distance. After that, we heard some hisses coming from the rooftop. We all look up to see the Kanima scamper off the roof and into some trees.

"What the hell is going on out here? Can we go now?!" Lydia said exiting the house.

Derek's face shows a bit of confusion as he looks at Lydia, then he mutters, "She's not the Kanima"

"Wait a minute. If Lydia's not the Kanima then that means that...?" Bryson says.

"Yes," Scott replies. "It's Jackson"
