Episode 4: The Deal

“Anything else ma'am.“

“No just a cup of coffee please” Bella told the waitress and she nodded and went away.

She took a glance at the wall clock at the west side of the restaurant. It was already six twenty and Alex had still not shown up. She was begining to get uneasy. The waitress came back with her cup of coffee.

“Thank you” , Bella told her as she pulled the coffee near to her.

“If you need anything else I'll be here.“ the waiter said this as she smiled.

“I'll call you when I need anything else.“

Meanwhile, Bella did not notice as Alex arrived . She had been looking for Bella and had found her. She waited for the waitress to leave then she sat at the seat opposite to Bella.

“Hey”

“Hey “

“Why did you choose this place for a meet. I mean it's extremely quiet here.“ Alex said this and chuckled.

“I like it here.“

“ So what did you decide.“

“I think I'll take your offer.“

“That was fast. I was hoping you'd take a couple of days or something.“

“The thing is I need a whole lot of money “ Bella looked at her and gave a silly smile.

“Oooh wow. So here's the deal, I've seen you drive and girl you're on fire, so, first of all there's a race downtown at ten. You could get some cash there. “

“I don't know how it works but do you think it could give me sixteen million in seven months.“

“Whoa”

Bella looked at her trying to figure out what she would say then Alex interrupted her thoughts .

“I know just how you'll get all that.“

“Huh you've just saved me.“

Alex chuckled then asked her” what do you need all that money for?“

“I think I'll keep that to myself for now. “Bella replied and looked at Alex in the eye. She waited for her to say anything but she did not so she said to her, “ not that I don't trust you or something.“

“ Whoa am cool “

“A cup of coffee as we wait?“ Bella asked her after a long borderline.

“Well off course.“

Bella signaled the waitress and she came to their table. She asked for two cups for both of them as she handed the waitress the cup she had been drinking from.

They had been looking at each other for a while each of them wondering why it seemed as if they had known each other since childhood. Despite staring at each other none of them had anything to say to the other. The waitress came back and placed their coffee on their table but none of them had noticed they both had drifted away in their own imaginations.

“Mmh.. so you are just gonna sit there ,” Alex told Bella and this made her to look at Alex.

“What?“ Bella said back not sure what she had heard.

“ Never mind. How about we race to the race?“ Alex said this and chuckled . Bella just smile.

9:56 PM the same night.

Bella drifted to a halt beside Alex's yellow GTR. She came out of the car and slammed the car door. She was a little angry but did not want to show.

“You know you cheated right.“ She said this as she went round Alex's car.

“Wait I did?“ Asked Alex in her normal jocular mood.

“You literally told me to turn left!“, Bella told her then stoped near her and looked straight in her eyes.

“ Oooh yeah I remember telling you that, and you were winning.“ Alex said this and laughed. She noticed Bella wasn't laughing and she stoped.“ Okay am sorry. “

Bella stared at her for a moment then sighed, “you should be.“

“No hard feelings?“ Asked Alex in her jocular mood.

Bella just smiled her off.

“So let's get you in the race girl.“ Alex told. Bella as she led the way.

Alex talked to some wired looking fellas for sometime. Where Bella stood, she couldn't tell what they were talking about. She just watched as Alex gave them something wrapped up in black cloth then watched as she came to where she was. Bella wasn't curious to know what they were talking about because deep down she knew some strings had to be pulled if she was to enter the race.

“You'll be racing against just three competitors. This should be a simple one for you. And you should be in line at…”., she looked at her watch then looked back at Bella and continued talking, “right now. You should be in line right now.“

“Okay and the track?“

“Oooh just a straight track if you do your gears well you'll be able to pull this one out. I mean just win Bella.“

Bella stared at her a little then took a deep breath,” hope I'll do well.“

“Off course you will girl.“ Alex told her this as she took both her hands, “so get in you car.“

Bella went to her car and started the engine. She had a mix of anxiety and fear. The just sighed and went in line. She was the last to line up at the left lane. The other racers looked fierce and she thought whether they had ever done it before. She then had a felling that it didn't even matter. She looked at her lane and saw how the finish line was near. She had dozen questions which troubled her but all of them came to a halt when a girl with a perfectly curved body came in front of the starting line with a flag and waved it several times. She pointed to the car in the rightmost lane and the racer revved his mighty car fiercely. She pointed to the one in the middle and the driver revved his too. She pointed at Bella's car and she did not do a thing . She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do. The girl lifted the flag and then stayed in that position for a while. She instantly brought it down. Bella did not really understand how things were around but she could clearly tell this was how they indicated the race had began so she stepped on the gas. Her car had accelerated last but she shifted her gear less than ten yards after starting and this boosted it further beyond the other racers. She shifted the gear again and her car was now a yard in front of the other cars. She passed the finish line and drifted to a halt about ten yards away from the finish line. She got out of her car fast . She couldn't believe she had won her first race. One of the other racers came and stoped his car near hers and came out.

“That's a really cool race you got there.“ He told her .

“Thank you.“ Bella replied happily.

Alex came to her and they hugged. Alex was almost sure she'd win but she was still happy for her.
