21 Bella waited until Albert was asleep to sneak out of the house. She didn’t know his regular schedule, but she was fairly sure he wasn’t going to get up in the middle of the night. She let the moonlight guide her through the vineyard to the building that held his office. She expected the doors to be locked, but she figured she’d worry about it when she got there. The knob didn’t budge when she turned it, and she swore in the dark. Bella moved around the building, searching all the doors until she ended back in front of the first one. None of them were unlocked. She circled again, wondering if any of the windows were open. She could just barely reach the bottom of the windowsills, so even if they were, she wasn’t sure how she would get herself up and through the window without a ladder
