I sit by Alex's bed and read him a story from his book like I always do but unlike every other night, Blue isn't sitting on the other side.
I hope he won't ask. Won't notice that she is gone but how long will I be able to keep giving excuses until he finally realizes she is gone.
“Dada, where is mommy?” He asks, breaking my trance. My eyes remain on the book, staring hard at the words that I can't focus anymore.
“Dada” He calls again. I turn to him, smile softly and stroke his hair.
“Mommy was tired. She went to bed early” I push out the lie with a heavy heart.
He pouts, “Mommy cry” he says in a sad voice.
“Alex, mommy will be fine. Don't worry” I press a kiss on his forehead and gently massage his head until he eventually falls asleep.
