Mikhail came to my room the next morning after I made the announcement. His expression was serious and concerned.
"Dimitri," he said. "I must advise you against this marriage."
I was sitting at my desk, reviewing guest lists. I looked up at him.
"Why?" I asked simply.
"Because it is dangerous," Mikhail explained. "Because the underworld will not accept it."
He walked closer, his hands were clasped behind his back.
