Aaron had a quick retreat to the handover point where he could have some rest, replaced by his next colleague.
The military gang was in awe as for when they saw Aaron return to the camp. A stamp of unforgettable marked in his eyes, he could be felt by his close colleagues.
A well needed rest break and the battle was set.
A brief turnabout for which his bullets and gestures never played shy while being shot and dragged respectively on the enemy front. Through each and every confession of the inevitable war chaos.
Way too focused to hear the voices in his mind hinting at his inabilities. Armed by rage and built off a spark of last breath. Solo player in a strategic war game.
Bulletproof gadget mind set for each and every set back. Straight on an indepth and pinpoint vision in regards to his objectives. He got a grip and zeal to charge headfirst as from now on.
Kind of a blur to the urgency of the previous mortal scene, on his inner walls could be felt a percussive reflection of free fire pressing right below his chest.
His utmost threat was now from within. Knocking out his stubborn doubts swift and clear. Building blocks diligently knocking at his mind.
On one specific day, the jungle was silent— too silent. Aaron tightened his grip on his rifle, his breath shallow. Then, all hell broke loose.
Gunfire erupted from the mountain heights. A bullet whizzed past his ear, another kicking up dirt at his feet. "CONTACT FRONT!" he screamed, diving behind a fallen log, heart pounding.
"You'll never break me down, I was forged by the fires of hell." Aaron said to himself through his gritted teeth.
"Clear left!"
"Clear right"
The squad colonel commanded
Aaron and some of his colleagues set for the machine guns, done whilst staring at each other on the sides. Carefully set on the wavering dust and the muzzle flashes were up for another round.
They fired.
A distant scream. Then silence.
They didn’t know if they’d hit the enemy. But he had to move.
The day went on with the soldiers more alert for the mind blowing encounter through this very day.
On the other hand, Aaron learned not to worry so much about his girl's state. For he knew so well that didn't help him on his journey.
For all he could see about her at the bootcamp and intermediate training, sure she was able to handle such bloody grounds.
Everything in the jungle that seemed to cast a shadow seemed to be alive. Something was in the air on this specific night. Aaron could sense it and wanted to be ready for it
He asked the squad leader if he could stay on alert at night.
"As long as you're sure when you get sleepy, you wake the next person up", the squad leader responded.
"Stay sharp, straight handover if you're down"
Right after, as complete darkness crippled, the ground attack started.
Why did the enemy not do it the night before? He never knew.
A cinematic scene churned up in the middle of heart wrecking sounds and soldiers being caught off guard for they were never used to this specific kind of ambush.
Sober with a blow of artful resources gnawing at his bones, Aaron stood up to his refined role and was light of the night on that specific dawn.
Explosives poured in bulk at three specific corners. Nothing left to lose, a thread through the pins set up by Aaron's proposal to his colleagues on night watch.
Aaron crouched in the mud, wiring the last charge. The jungle hummed with the same tension as his high school lab before a failed experiment–but this time, failure wasn’t an option. Fire was the point.
His fingers moved on muscle memory. Copper wire + battery acid + a prayer = a tripwire even his old chemistry teacher wouldn’t predict. “See, Dr. Yusim” he muttered, “I was paying attention.”
To the utmost enemy surprise, and to their night team's surprise nonetheless, successive explosions went rampant under the enemy’s feet.
The gun shots went rampant on the soldiers placed on the hindsight and untouched by the explosives. The enemy was caught off guard.
Shocked by the explosives melting down their colleagues, some were easy prey for Aaron's team. Something of a soaring plan at the spring of war.
Crowned at the gates of a fruitful fate. Nothing but a win tucked in his armor
A haunting site to feel through sight with a minimal amount of soldiers wounded on Aaron's team.
Prior to daylight, the ground attack faded away to quiet. With some soldiers withdrawn and taken back to the emergency.
"Hell of a plan last night, professor. Save the lab reports for HQ", said the squad leader to Aaron
