Chapter 13 Jim did call Alan on Thursday, and again on Friday, to make certain he was doing all right. Alan’s response the second time was, “I’m fine. Honest. Now if people would quit trying to baby me.” Seconds later, he apologized. “I don’t mean you. I like that you care. It’s the guys I work with. They put it together that I was the Mr. North in the news stories and…” Jim could visualize him shaking his head. “It’s nice, I guess, but enough is enough.” “I’m sure it is.
