NEW COUNTRY,NEW CHAOS

Ella Morgan stood still at Heathrow Airport, gripping the handle of her suitcase like it was the only thing keeping her grounded in reality. For a moment, she didn’t move. People rushed past her from every direction—families reuniting, businessmen dragging tired steps, students laughing nervously like her. Everything was loud, fast, and unfamiliar. She inhaled slowly. “This is really it,” she whispered. London. The word felt heavier than she expected. Back home, she had imagined this moment countless times. She thought she would feel excitement—maybe even pride. Instead, she felt something between anxiety and disbelief. She adjusted her jacket again. The cold air in the UK was nothing like what she was used to. Even though it was technically summer, the breeze cut through her skin like winter had refused to leave. “This place is disrespectful,” she muttered under her breath, pulling her suitcase forward. Her phone vibrated. Driver Assigned – Arriving in 3 minutes Ella sighed in relief. At least one thing was working. She stepped outside the airport, and immediately, the air slapped her properly. Her eyes widened. “Oh my God… why is it this cold?” She hugged herself tightly while scanning the crowd. A man stood near a black car, chewing gum casually, leaning against the door like he had no worries in life. When his eyes landed on her, he straightened slightly. “You Ella Morgan?” he asked. “Yes,” she replied, moving closer. He opened the trunk without much emotion. “You here for study or holiday?” “Study. Nursing.” That got his attention for half a second. “Nursing, yeah?” he said, smirking slightly. “Brave choice.” Ella frowned immediately. “What does that mean?” He shrugged. “You’ll understand soon.” That answer did not sit well with her. Still, she said nothing and got into the car. Inside, London moved like a completely different world. Double-decker buses passed by like they owned the road. People crossed streets without hesitation. Accents blended into sounds she struggled to process. Everything felt fast, confident, and slightly intimidating. Ella pressed her forehead lightly against the window. “This is actually real,” she whispered. Her phone vibrated again. A message from her mother appeared: “My daughter, be strong. God is with you. Don’t forget your purpose.” Ella smiled softly, her eyes softening for a moment. “I won’t forget,” she whispered back. Then after a pause, she added quietly: “…I just hope I don’t get lost first.” The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror. “So, where you staying?” he asked. “My school arranged accommodation,” she said quickly. “You sound unsure.” “I’m not unsure,” she replied immediately. Then paused. “…I’m just confirming.” He chuckled. Silence followed. Then her phone buzzed again. She frowned before opening it. Her expression changed instantly. URGENT: Your accommodation booking has been cancelled due to incomplete payment confirmation. Ella blinked. Once. Twice. She read it again. Then slowly looked up. “…Excuse me?” The driver noticed her face through the mirror. “Problem?” Ella forced a smile. “No problem at all.” Then she whispered under her breath: “I just arrived in London… and I’m already homeless.” The driver laughed loudly. “Welcome to London, yeah?” Ella leaned back in her seat, staring at nothing. Her mind started running faster than the car. No accommodation. No backup plan. No familiar face. No idea what to do next. Just her suitcase and a country that didn’t pause for anyone’s confusion. She swallowed hard. “Okay Ella,” she whispered to herself. “Don’t panic.” She paused. Then immediately panicked anyway. After a few minutes, the driver’s tone changed slightly. “You’ve got anywhere else to go tonight?” he asked. Ella shook her head slowly. “…No.” He sighed. “Alright. I know a cheap guest place near your area. Not fancy, but safe. We’ll sort tonight out first.” Ella looked at him suspiciously. “Why are you helping me?” He shrugged. “I’ve seen worse first days. Yours is just… entertaining.” She narrowed her eyes. “That’s not comforting.” “It’s honest,” he said simply. The car moved through the busy London streets. Ella stayed quiet, watching everything pass by. The excitement she once had about moving abroad now felt distant. Reality had arrived faster than expected. Cold. Unpredictable. Slightly overwhelming. But also… strangely alive. Her phone vibrated again. Her mother’s message was still there. She typed slowly: “London is… a lot.” She paused. Then added: “But I think I can survive it.” She pressed send. The driver turned into a quieter street. “So,” he said casually, “what’s your name properly again?” “Ella Morgan.” He nodded. “Alright, Ella Morgan. Welcome to London.” She sighed. “Please stop saying that like it means something.” He smiled slightly. “Oh, it does.” Ella looked out the window one more time. The city didn’t feel welcoming. It didn’t feel soft. But it felt real. And somewhere deep inside her fear and confusion… A small part of her felt ready to try anyway. And she had no idea yet… That this city would change her life completely.
