12 Thad was finally back in his apartment after a long weekend spent at Veronica’s. She was back to her regular, flu-free self, which was a relief, because he knew she couldn’t afford to miss any more work. He also had dozens of meetings this week that he couldn’t skip, plus a few crucial negotiations he couldn’t do over the phone. Dropping his weekender bag on his bed, he changed into his running clothes before he went to the private gym in one of the spare rooms of his penthouse. He could feel the proverbial cobwebs blowing away as he ran for the first time in several days, but the pleasant relief was short-lived.
