Thad was packing up his briefcase to leave when his father appeared in the doorway.
“Thad,” Timothy greeted him with a warm smile. “Haven’t seen you in the office much the last few days.”
“I’ve been busy with Veronica and Lyra.”
His father nodded. “Your mother and I really want to meet them. Why don’t you come over for dinner, all three of you?”
Thad wanted to say no. It was too soon, but his dad looked so hopeful. He hadn’t seen that look on his father’s face in a long time. Not since he told his father he’d bought a ring for Victoria.
“Let me talk to her. If she says yes, I’ll let you know.”
“I’ll hold you to that.” His father left.
