Veronica woke early, her body still attuned to waking for her work schedule. She rolled over in Thad’s arms and gazed at his sleeping face. A warm tingle filled her belly as she studied his features, burning them into her memory. He moved in his sleep, pulling her closer to him and let out a soft, satisfied smile with his lips faintly curved up. Whatever he was thinking of must be wonderful. She wished she could get a glimpse into the land of his dreams.
She leaned in and pressed a kiss to his shoulder, soft enough not to wake him. His body was so warm she felt like she was curled up close to a fire. She wasn’t sure how long she lay there as she enjoyed feeling content for the first time in ages.
