Music recommendation: Can we kiss forever by Kina ft Adriana Proenza) The rain was very heavy. So heavy that one would never believe that a few hours ago, the sky was as clear as glass and not a single dark cloud had been visible to give one the slightest hint of an approaching downpour. The road was empty and not a single soul could be seen. It was dark and the only sound was the loud sound of the rumbling thunder and rain drops falling on the tarred road. Still, the sound of her heartbeat seemed even louder than the thunder. The whole setting was gloomy, which was totally in alliance with the conversation that they were having. The rain drops that fell on her face washed her tears away as they fell from her eyes. Her clothes were totally drenched and stuck to her body. And despite the strong breeze, she couldn't feel the strong cold seep into her skin. She swallowed as she watched him clench and unclench his hands. He blinked severally trying to calm down. "You're lying to me", he said in disbelief. Even with the rain, she could detect the tears pooling in his eyes threatening to fall. "You don't mean that. Whatever it is we can work it out. I don't believe you! You can't mean that!", He yelled. She gulped. She was trying her best to stabilize herself and she was failing woefully. "It's true. We can't be together. I never felt anything for you. I'm not ready for a relationship and I will not be ready anytime soon so you...", she paused as she saw him vigorously shaking his head in disbelief. "I'll wait!", He said decisively. "I'll wait till you're ready. It doesn't matter how long it takes I'll wait for you!". "No you won't!" "I will! That's not for you to f*****g decide!!!", He yelled angrily. His eyes were red and he was obviously angry. His dark hair was wet and some strands had fallen over his face. "No you won't! Because after a week or two you'll forget about me. I'll just be an unpleasant memory to you!", She yelled back. Why wasn't he listening to her. "It's a phase. It's just a mere infatuation!" "Shut up!!!", He yelled. He walked closer to her and she stepped backward. He grabbed her arm to prevent her from moving away from him and looked her straight in the eyes as though trying to see through her. She lowered her head, too scared to meet his eyes. "Tell me the truth. Be honest with me. Why are you doing this? Why?", He asked in a gruff voice. She swallowed bitterly trying to stabilize herself. She squeezed her trembling hands together nervously. Her tears were flowing freely and the rain washed them away. The rain was getting even heavier and the thunder roared. She kept her head down for fear that looking into his eyes might make her change her mind. She was mentally reminding herself to not waver. She didn't want to but she knew she had to do this. It was the only way that they would leave her alone. It was best for everyone. She had to do this for her family, herself and most importantly, she had to do this for him. With that thought, decisively, she lifted her head and met his eyes with equal intensity. "Because I'm not ready. Because I don't love you...and I never will". His tears fell.
