CHAPTER 3

CAILEAN'S POV 4 WEEKS LATER, AFTER THE PREGNANCY INCIDENT...     Dylan plans a picnic for us today, and I'm so excited because I rarely go out these days. Actually, since I reached the last week of my third month, Dylan never allows me to leave the pack house. Not even to go to the training area. Usually, I go there from time to time to entertain myself and learn new fighting tactics.     This also helps me not to forget what I learned during my past training.     I choose to wear a pastel yellow summer dress, and it's so shocking to see myself in the mirror, in this dress, how my baby bump grows enormously. It grew really fast during the last three weeks.      Pregnancy is surely a miracle, especially a werewolf type of pregnancy. Imagine two living creatures are growing inside me, and I only need to carry them in my womb for three months?! That's amazing! But I don't feel that fantastic these past few weeks because I couldn't get proper sleep, whether it's nap time or bedtime. It's tough to find a comfortable position, and adding to it, whenever I shift, it takes an ample amount of effort because my tummy is as heavy as a massive watermelon. I know I'm exaggerating but joking aside, it's really heavy. Not to mention how they move a lot inside as if they are playing wrestling in my womb.     I turn to my side to enjoy the view of my lovely bump and continuously give it a gentle stroke. My heart wells up with joy as I watch myself in front of the mirror.     While lost in the happiness this moment brings me, Dylan passes behind me, wearing a white cotton shirt and jeans. He creeps his arms from my back and wraps them around me, placing his hands on top of mine.     Our gazes entwine in the mirror, offering each other a beaming smile—the smile of excited parents.     "Ready for the picnic?" he whispers in my ear.     "Of course I am. I feel like a prisoner, you know." I pout.     Dylan smiles and gives me a peck on the cheek. "It's better to be safe than sorry, my love. Anytime from now, our pups will find their way out."     I turn around to face him. "I know that," I say and squeeze his cheeks together with my palms.     "We haven't decided on their names yet. I do not forget our agreement, though. That our firstborn will be named after your parents but since it's a twin are we going to name both of them after Richard and Amelia?" As I told Dylan before, I don't mind naming our kids after his parents, but since we have a twin, maybe we could call one of them as per the name of our choice.     Dylan crosses his arms over his chest. "Let's see... Since we have a twin, let's name one of them after my parents. How about we name our daughter Amelia and our son Bayron. I've been thinking about that name for a long time. It suits the title ALPHA before it." The excitement on Dylan's face is priceless as he shares his thoughts of our kids' names, and I don't have any plans to ruin that excitement since I am one hundred percent agreeing with his idea.     Not that I don't prefer to name my son after his grandfather, but to be honest, I don't know much about Richard, unlike Amelia. I believe it makes more sense to name our daughter after her grandmother since Dylan's mom is closest to my heart then gives our son the name of our choice.     "Bayron and Amelia. It sounds perfect! I love it, Dy!" I pipe up.     "It's settled then," Dylan says in a pleasing deep tone, then he tilts his head down and claims my lips. From the tenderness of his kiss, I could feel the overflowing love that my husband has for me.     I thread my fingers in his hair as I enjoy every taste of him then the twins suddenly move. Dylan quickly pulls himself from me when he feels the movement.     "Look at those tiny Alphas being territorial." He mutters proudly.     "And it looks like we will be practicing abstinence." I tease.     "Says who?! I'll show them who's the real Alpha!" He mumbles in a naughty way and scoops me into a bridal carry, moves us to the bed, and shows me who's the real Alpha. *****     "Wait here. I'll just get the car." He says as soon as we get out of the house.     I gasp. "Does this mean we are..."     "Yes. I'm taking you away from the pack house. I thought of arranging the picnic in the garden, but Will told me it's ok to take you out as long as it's easy for us to go to the infirmary if something happens. Which I hope not." He explains and takes a deep breath. Even though he's trying his best to hide how nervous he is, it still shows.     "Don't worry, my love; I can feel they want to stay in here a little bit more," I tell him while pointing at my belly.     "You better be right, or else I don't know what will happen to me. Maybe I'll faint." He warns in a playful tone and chuckles. Then I burst out laughing as I imagine the scenario of my water broke, and Dylan is lying unconscious on the ground. That's going to be hilarious.     "I'll be quick." He says after he recovers from his joke, but Dylan wasn't able to take a step. The sound of car engines approaching catches our attention, and then three black SUVs pull over in front of the pack house.     Alexander gets off from the car on the left, then four tall men in black come out of the vehicle on the left, and lastly, another man in black emerges from the driver's seat of the car in the middle and opens the backseat door. A tall, handsome man about Dmitri's age, dressed in a sophisticated way, appears.     I lean closer to Dylan. "Who's that man? He looks influential."     "That's the Alpha King. I met him once in my life. I was only four years old at that time," he explains.     "Shall I be scared?" I nervously ask my mate and wrap my arm around his when I see them all walking in our direction.     "George, this is Dylan and Cailean, the parents of the babies mentioned in the prophecy. Dylan, Cailean meet the Alpha King. King George Baines." Alexander introduces us.     King George moves forward and extends his hand in front of Dylan. I unwrap my arm, and Dylan warmly shakes the king's hand.     "Welcome to the Triton Moon Pack, King George." He greets him, then puts his hand on my back and gives me a gentle push forward. "This is my wife, Cailean." He adds.     I lift my hand to shake the king's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, your majesty. And, you can call me Cai." I sound pretty formal, and it feels awkward and intimidating to stand in front of him. This is the first time I meet someone with royal blood and not just with royal blood but a freaking king! The king of werewolves, this is like a dream.     The king laughs and breaks the handshake, which makes me feel uneasy.     "You two. There's no need to be formal. Please. Just call me George. No need to call me king or your majesty. Besides, we'll become family one day." George's statement confuses me.     "Become family one day?" I repeat. I want to make sure if I heard him correctly.     "That's the reason why we are here," Alexander answers, then he fixes his gaze on Dylan. "Remember what I told you about George searching for you guys? Now I know why. He has a proposal." He continues.     Dylan nods. "I remember.”     “Are you open to hearing me out?” George politely asks.     “I would like to hear it. Follow me.” Dylan turns around, and we follow his lead, excluding the men in black.     We all settle on the couch once we enter Dylan's office. Dylan and I sit on the side of the sofa facing the door, then Alexander and George sit opposite us.     George is the one to speak first. "I know that both of you were surprised by my sudden visit, but I will go straight to the point. When I heard about the existence of the twins mentioned in the prophecy, I thought of asking the parents of those children to promise one of their daughters to my son if ever the babies are female. But, when Alexander told me that it's a boy and a girl, I felt really thankful to the moon goddess." My eyes pop wide after hearing everything George says. He wants an arranged marriage!     I tried to speak, but Dylan beat me to it.     "Are you proposing for an arranged marriage? This doesn't apply to our kind; we have mates." Dylan points out, and that's what exactly I have in mind. After I experience the beauty of mate bond, I will never take that privilege away from my daughter.     "Of course, I considered that that's why on the twin's eighteenth birthday we will invite all the pack in the whole continent and see if she will find her mate. If not, then we can talk about my son and your daughter's marriage in detail. I will do the same for my son, by the way. He is now three years old, so fifteen years to go. For him." I feel a bit relieved knowing that he's considering this critical matter in the kid's life.     Dylan holds my hand. "I appreciate your offer, but my wife and I need to discuss this first."     "I understand! Anyway, you have 18 years to decide, but I believe this is for the greater good of our kind and the safety of your family."     "What do you mean?" I interject, seeking elaboration. What does this proposal have to do with the safety of my family?     George rises from his seat and makes a beeline to the painting on the sidewall. "If you will let your daughter marry my son, starting today, I will send an army of men to protect your pack. And I will do everything in my power to protect your pups from Cordelia." His words come out powerful, and I couldn't deny the sincerity in his voice.     "How will this marriage protect our kind?" Dylan curiously inquired.     George shifts his attention back to us. "As mentioned in the prophecy, A kingdom will fall, and a new one will rise. I believe the twins are bound to be with royals and create a new kingdom. I also noticed that Cordelia was frightened when she mentioned to me this part of the prophecy."     "I believe George's assumption is correct and because everything that is happening around us is falling into place," Alexander adds, then George sits on the couch near to me.     "Did you know that I lost my mate a long time ago and never had a chance to have an heir? Then three years ago, I met my second chance mate, and she immediately got pregnant with Logan, and now she's pregnant again. So I believe this is not a coincidence." He's looking at me straight in the eyes, and I could feel how much he wants this to happen. And honestly speaking, I'm considering it to save and protect my children from the dark witch. But I agree with Dylan; we can't just give away our precious YES on the spot. We must talk about this first because this is not a joke.     George decides to continue when I don't say anything. "Don't worry, Dylan, Cai. As I said, you have 18 years to decide, and some things need to be done first before this marriage could happen." George stands up. "Forgive me for coming here like this, but we must act fast before Cordelia finds out about your pups. Even if you do not say yes now, I'm still going to send my men to protect your territory." He keeps on impressing me with how good he is. I hope he's genuinely a good man, not just an act to get our trust.     Dylan gets on his feet too, and I follow. "There's no need to wait for 18 years; if our children do not meet their mates once they come to the right age, we can proceed with the wedding." My eyes darted to Dylan after hearing the last part of his sentence. And I can't believe that he already agreed to it without discussing the matter with me!     "It's settled then!" George exclaims and enthusiastically shakes Dylan's hand.     My eyes meet George, and he offers me a warm smile, and I have no choice but to provide him with the same affection.     "I have to go now. My son is waiting for me. Come to the palace this weekend. I'll prepare a family dinner for us." A family dinner... Yep! It's really happening, and I could feel my blood rushing to my head from frustration.     "We will be there." Dylan happily replies.     George places his hand on my shoulder. "Thank you, Cai. Your daughter will be in good hands." He assures me, and I just nod, for my tongue suddenly feels heavy.     I watch as Dylan escorts them out of the office, and anger churns in my chest when they disappear from my sight.      How could Dylan do this to me?!
