Col went to turn the horse and run, but the Wraiths blocked their escape with a black wall of fire. The horse, sensing the danger, neighed and snorted, its eyes wide with fear. Col tried to conjure a fireball, but his magic was ineffective against the spectral beings. The Wraiths closed in, their forms menacing, their eyes glowing with an unholy light. Col tightened his grip around Amelia, who clung to him like a lifeline. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck one of the Wraiths, its spectral form dissolving into the ruins. Col looked up, his eyes widening in surprise. Shae stood on a nearby ledge, her hand crackling with energy, her eyes blazing with power.
