Chapter 14: After the Fire

Dario’s POV Steam still formed around us, it curled over the marble wall as well as our skin. She was trembling, while her forehead was still pressed against the slick wall, her breaths came in shallow and uneven motions and I could feel her pulse hammering hard beneath my hands, I could still feel the way her body fluttered around me even as the last wave of pleasure faded. For a moment, I didn’t move. I just held her there waiting for her to come back down from her high heavens, my chest heaved against her back and the sound of water crashed down on us and unto the floor filling the silence we’d created. “Mmmm” she lazily moaned as me lips grazed the curve of her damp shoulder, tasting salt, water, and my dear temptation.. Emily. Then I pulled my c**k out of her slowly, carefully cause idmf she mistakenly moved, my little one would want to go on another round and she was in no shape to take me on.. She made a soft sound that sounded almost like a half whimper, half sigh and that nearly undid me all over again. Her knees buckled as I slid out and I caught her immediately. “Easy mi amor,” I murmured, sliding an arm around her waist. She sagged into me, her head dropping back against my chest, utterly spent. “You’re weak.” “I’m… fine,” she whispered, though her voice shook. Her lashes were heavy, her lips parted while her body was soft in my hold almost as soft as my c**k that she was subconsciously yet desperately trying to stir up each time she moved her butt. “No,” I said as I lowered my mouth to her ear, firm and certain. “You’re mine. And I take care of what’s mine.” She shivered, but didn’t argue. I reached for the soap, then slowly lathered it between my palms before carefully rubbing it gently over her skin and she let me.. well, she was too weak to refuse anyways, her eyes fluttered closed as I soaped and sponged her shoulders, her arms, ss well as the delicate curve of her back. Every inch of her was trembling, but not with resistance.. it was surrender. And when she finally spoke.. Her voice was quiet, almost shy. “You don’t have to…” “I don’t, but I want to,” I interrupted her, then sweetly pressed a soft kiss to the nape of her neck. “I want to see you like this, I want to see you vulnerable, soft and at peace. It’s a beautiful side of you no one else deserves to see but me.” Her breath hitched for a brief second, and she tilted her head slightly, exposing more of her throat to me without realizing it as she stared deep into my eyes. The gesture was small, and knowing, but it sent a huge surge of satisfaction through me. When I was done, I carefully rinsed her soapy body, my hands guiding the water down her body. She stood still without resisting as if she trusted me completely, and it struck me with a force I wasn’t ready for. Trust. After everything, she gave me this.. here I was expecting her to break stuff and scream meanwhile all I got was her screaming my name and begging for more. I turned off the shower and reached for a towel, then wrapped it around her gently and without warning, I lifted her into my arms. She gasped, startled. “Mmm, Dario.. ” “Shh,” I quickly shut her up, as I carried her out of the bathroom. Water slowly dripped from us both, leaving a trail across the floor, but I didn’t care. She hesitantly looped her arms around my neck, then rested her flushed cheek against my chest. By the time I reached the bed, her body had gone limp in my arms. Not unwilling.. just weak, spent and exhausted. I set her down on the bed carefully, then reached for the robe laid across the chair. “Arms,” I ordered softly. Despite her cheeks been all the shades of a fresh tomato she obeyed, and raised them, while I slid the robe over her damp skin, tying it snugly around her waist. The sight of her wrapped up in something of mine, with her hair dripping.. it was more dangerous to me than her nakedness. “You’ll catch a cold,” I muttered, more to myself than her, as I grabbed a smaller towel and began wrapping her wet hair. She watched me quietly, those wide eyes studying every move like she couldn’t quite believe this was me.. the same man who had just taken her in the bathroom with such ruthless hunger. Her lips curved slightly. “You’re… gentle.” I paused then calmly met her gaze. “Does that surprise you?” “Yes,” she admitted softly before darting her gaze to the bathroom door. I smirked, tying the towel at her crown. “You’ll learn I’m full of surprises, wife.” She blushed, and I caught the curve of her smile before she did, and it tugged something deep in my chest. I guided her back against the pillows, as I adjusted the covers around her like she was porcelain. She was my porcelain doll after all. She gave a small sigh, her body melting into the mattress. “You’re looking at me like I’m breakable,” she finally whispered. “You are,” I said simply. “To me, you are.” Her lips parted, as if she wanted to argue, but then her eyes fluttered, heavy with sleep. I brushed a damp strand from her cheek, leaning down to press a kiss there, softer than anything I’d ever allowed myself. “Rest,” I murmured. “You’re staying?” She whispered back to me. For her, I softened my tone making sure it sounded as calm as possible. “Yes. I’m here.” She sighed, satisfied, and within minutes, her breathing evened out. She had surrendered in every way.. her body, her anger, her guard. And now she slept, curled in my bed, wrapped inside my robe, looking like she perfectly belonged next to me and nowhere else. I sat there for a long moment, watching her. Admiring her.. My Emily. Damn.. But then the warmth in my chest cooled. My jaw tightened and my eyes hardened as I stared at the nightstand where I had kept my phone. I reached for It and all the softness drained from me the moment my thumb hovered over the screen. I dialed and the line clicked, then a voice answered immediately. “Sir?” I didn’t take my eyes off Emily’s sleeping form as I spoke. My voice was steel, cold and cutting, so far from the man who had just bathed her with calm yet trembling hands. “They have been waiting for more than an hour abd they are really getting pissed off, what should I say to them, sir” “I’m on my way,” I said flatly. “Something came up.. A very serious and urgent meeting that I couldn’t leave unattended as it needed my full attention.” I ended the call before he could respond. My gaze lingered on her one last time, memorizing the image of her at peace. Then I stood, and straightened my shoulders. The man who belonged in this room was not the man the world knew. And the world was waiting.
