CHAPTER FORTY-THREEThe Passing Over I obeyed, peeking through slatted lashes. My hive twin drifted before me, just as I remembered. She danced barefoot among the ruins, skipping across the uneven surface as though flying. Reaching out, my fingers penetrated the mist which made up her image and the gossamer threads of her tunic dispersed. My heart ached and I dropped my hand to rest on my thighs.
