Vivienne’s POV
The mansion loomed before Vivienne, its grandeur striking against the twilight sky. It was a sight to behold, a realm of opulence that seemed almost otherworldly. She took a deep breath, steadying her nerves as she approached the grand gates. David, the security head, greeted her with a nod, his eyes giving away nothing.
“Welcome, Miss Reynolds,” he said, opening the door for her.
“Thank you,” Vivienne replied, her voice wavering slightly. The sheer size and beauty of the estate were intimidating, but she reminded herself why she was here. She needed answers, and Lucas was the only one who could provide them.
As she stepped inside, Lucas descended the grand staircase, his presence commanding and reassuring. His smile was warm, and it sent a wave of calm through her.
“Vivienne,” he greeted her, “I’m glad you could make it.”
Her heart skipped a beat. “Thank you for inviting me.”
“Shall we?” He extended his hand, and she took it, feeling a spark of electricity at his touch.
They walked through the mansion, Lucas pointing out various artifacts and paintings. “These pieces have been in my family for generations,” he explained. “Each one has its own story.”
They eventually arrived at his study, a room filled with ancient texts and relics. Lucas gestured for Vivienne to sit, and he took a seat across from her. “I’ve been doing some research,” he began, “and I believe our connection goes back much further than we realized.”
Vivienne listened intently as Lucas recounted tales of his ancient past, his voice soft but firm. “In my previous life, I was known as Alaric, an Angel of Light. I fought against Valerius, a dark and malevolent being who sought to dominate the world with his evil.”
Vivienne’s eyes widened. “Valerius… he’s the one who’s trying to return, isn’t he?”
Lucas nodded. “Yes. I defeated him and sealed him away for thousands of years, but now he’s found a way back. And it seems you are somehow connected to this.”
“But why me?” Vivienne asked, feeling a shiver run down her spine.
“I believe you are the reincarnation of someone very important from that time,” Lucas said gently. “Someone who played a crucial role in our battle against Valerius.”
Vivienne’s mind raced with questions. “Lucas, who was Valerius? What did he do that was so terrible?”
Lucas’s expression darkened. “Valerius was a being of immense power and cruelty. He thrived on chaos and destruction, seeking to bend the world to his will. He was responsible for untold suffering.”
Vivienne felt a chill. “How did you defeat him?”
“It wasn’t easy,” Lucas admitted. “It took everything I had, and more. But with the help of my allies, I was able to seal him away. I hoped it would be for eternity, but it seems that fate has other plans.”
Vivienne leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. “Tell me more about that time. Who was I?”
Lucas took a deep breath. “You were known as Liora, a powerful seer and healer. Your abilities were unparalleled, and you played a key role in our victory. You were… you were my guiding light.”
The room seemed to grow warmer as Lucas spoke. “Liora and I shared a deep bond, one that transcended time and space. I believe that bond has brought us together again in this life.”
Vivienne’s heart ached at his words. “I can’t remember any of it.”
“You will, in time,” Lucas assured her. “But for now, we need to focus on the present. Valerius is coming, and we must be ready.”
Vivienne nodded, her resolve hardening. “What do we need to do?”
Lucas stood, offering his hand. “Come with me.”
He led her to a hidden room behind his study. Inside, the walls were lined with more ancient texts and artifacts, but the centerpiece was a large, glowing orb.
“This is the Orb of Light,” Lucas explained. “It contains the essence of my power and can help us track Valerius’s movements.”
Vivienne stared at the orb, mesmerized by its ethereal glow. “It’s beautiful.”
Lucas stepped closer to her, his eyes locked on hers. “So are you.”
Vivienne blushed, her heart racing. “Lucas…”
He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair from her face. “I’ve waited so long to find someone like you, Vivienne. Someone who understands, who shares this journey with me.”
She felt tears well up in her eyes. “I feel the same way, Lucas.”
He leaned in, his lips brushing against hers in a tender, yet passionate kiss. The world around them seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them in a moment of pure connection.
When they finally pulled away, Lucas rested his forehead against hers. “We’ll face whatever comes together,” he promised.
Vivienne nodded, feeling a surge of determination. “Together.”
Lucas’s POV
Lucas watched Vivienne closely, his heart swelling with a mixture of protectiveness and affection. She was brave, determined, and incredibly beautiful. He couldn’t deny the growing attraction he felt for her, a connection that went beyond their shared history.
“Vivienne, there’s something else I need to show you,” he said, standing up and extending his hand.
She took it without hesitation, and he led her to a hidden room behind his study.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.
Lucas stepped closer to her, his eyes locked on hers. “So are you,” he said softly.
“Together.”
As they continued to discuss their findings, the bond between them grew stronger. Lucas shared stories of his siblings, Evelyn and James, and their roles in his life. He also spoke of Ethan Carter, his best friend and business partner, who had been a constant support in his quest to understand the supernatural elements.
Hours passed, and Vivienne felt a sense of belonging she hadn’t felt in years. Lucas’s presence was comforting, his knowledge reassuring. She realized that despite the danger, she wasn’t alone.
Later That Evening
The day had been long and emotionally charged. As night fell, Lucas and Vivienne found themselves in the mansion’s grand library, surrounded by shelves of ancient tomes. They sat close together on a plush sofa, the fire crackling softly in the background.
Vivienne leaned her head on Lucas’s shoulder, feeling a sense of peace she hadn’t known in years. “Tell me more about your family,” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas smiled, wrapping his arm around her. “Evelyn is my older sister. She’s fiercely protective and incredibly intelligent. She’s always been skeptical of anyone new, but I know she’ll come around once she gets to know you.”
“And James?” Vivienne asked, feeling a warmth spread through her chest.
Lucas chuckled. “James is the troublemaker. He has a knack for getting into difficult situations, but he has a good heart. He’ll be a challenge, but I’m confident you’ll win him over too.”
Vivienne smiled, feeling more at ease. “I’m looking forward to meeting them.”
“You’ll fit right in,” Lucas said, kissing the top of her head. “We’re a bit unconventional, but we’re family.”
As the night grew darker, Vivienne felt herself drifting off to sleep in Lucas’s arms. For the first time in a long while, she felt safe and loved. The road ahead would be challenging, but with Lucas by her side, she was ready to face whatever came their way.
The Orb’s Revelation
The following morning, they returned to the hidden room with the Orb of Light. Lucas activated the orb, its glow intensifying as it revealed images of Valerius’s movements.
“He’s gathering strength,” Lucas said, his voice grim. “We need to act fast.”
Vivienne watched the images, a mix of fear and determination in her eyes. “How do we stop him?”
“We need to gather allies,” Lucas replied. “People who can help us in this fight.”
Vivienne nodded. “I’ll do whatever it takes.”
Lucas took her hand, his grip firm. “I know you will.”
