CHAPTER FOURTEEN CASSIAN She was standing at the kitchen counter in his shirt — the black one she always stole after nights that left them tangled and breathless. No pants. No shoes. Just her bare legs catching soft shadows in the overhead light and her hair a sleepy mess. Cassian stood in the doorway, watching her drink water like it was some kind of ritual. Her throat moved with every swallow. Her fingers played with the edge of the countertop. She hadn't noticed him yet. And God, he couldn’t move. She turned, slowly, sensing him now. “You’re staring again.” He smirked. “You’re in my shirt. In my kitchen. Looking like a fantasy I haven’t earned.” She tilted her head. “You’ve earned it. The tension simmered between them — the kind that didn’t need words. Just a glance. Just a breath. He leaned down, brushing his lips across hers — once, then again, deeper. Her hands slid up his chest, gripping his shoulders, pulling him in until their bodies pressed tight together. She kissed him like she’d been waiting for him all day. And maybe she had. He hoisted her up onto the counter, palms spreading across her thighs, parting them to step between. Her legs wrapped around his waist like second nature. “You keep doing this,” he whispered, trailing his mouth from her jaw to her neck, “showing up in my space… stealing my willpower.” “I don’t want your willpower,” she breathed. “I want you.” Their mouths crashed again, hot and demanding. Her fingers slipped under the hem of his shirt, exploring muscle, leaving heat in their wake. His hands found her lower back, pulling her closer, pressing her fully against him. Every part of her — soft and warm He didn't rush it keeping it slow
