Chapter 3:The D-day is here

1148 Words
CALLIANA'S POV. My suffering didn't stop today. It started from birth. Since I was born, I've not known peace, joy, and love. I was seven months pregnant in my mother's stomach when she went into labour on a Sunday, the second day of the month. On the day I was born, a storm started from nowhere and ravaged the pack, uprooting trees and destroying houses and businesses. Of course, that day was a cursed day, and that was the same day that my mother gave birth to me. Throughout that day, my mother tried to push me out despite me not being due for at least another six weeks. The doctors have been preparing to cut her open after a long day of prolonged labour. When I came out at almost midnight, my mother died after my first cry. It was settled from then on that I am cursed. I was born on an ominous day and then I killed my mother. My father lost his mate because of me, and even as a child, he never let go for long without reminding me that he hated my existence. He regretted having me. I cost him the one he loves, the most precious being to him on the planet. Life wasn't very easy for me as everything about me was different, including my growth. I was not growing the way every other child grew. I did not walk till I was three. I did not talk till I was six. This gave everyone in the pack the strength to address me as a cursed child.. That I was despised by others did not pain that much. The way that pained me so badly was that my father pioneered it. Since the Beta of a pack did not treat his child well, the pack members followed suit. One of the memories that I won't forget was when my dad traveled and spent some weeks there. When he came back and I ran to welcome him, the way he shoved me away and accepted the other children who came to welcome him made tears stream down my face. It was an unforgettable experience for me. Today I am 22 years old and should be leaving the pack before the day breaks fully. It was just midnight. I had my clothes and everything neatly packed and kept in a corner. Everything was ready and I was about to leave the pack when I checked the money I've saved to leave this hell called pack. I felt this chill over my body. Nobody comes to my room except Julian, who started coming to my room years back after he rejected me. “Could it be that I misplaced the money or that Julian took the money? If he took the money, why would he take the money, just to frustrate me? I didn't pay close attention when I came back, my room was a bit scattered. My room does not have a key. Who could have entered to take my savings for one year?” I felt so bad, but decided that no matter what had happened, I would leave the pack. I quickly took my packed bag and sneaked out of the pack. A few hours from then, the guests will be arriving for Julian's succession. Which is all the more reason why I should leave on time. As soon as I came out of the pack's gate, I shifted. My wolf, Helen, is very fast and strong. She could run even more than her feet could carry her. She ran so far into the forest. We didn't have a destination of where we're going to but wanted to leave Eden Pack before we leave there in death. We hadn't gone so far when we heard a howl. We ignored it and kept running into the forest. The howl became stronger and my wolf stopped to listen to what it could hear that was howling that way. “What is it?” I asked calmly. “It's an animal. It seems that it's so hurt and needs help.” My wolf ran towards where the howling was coming from. As soon as we got to the place, I saw an animal beaten and so weak. Looking at the animal, it looks like it has been attacked and left to die in its pool of blood. I felt so much for this animal. The memory of what happened to me when I lost my friend flashed in my mind and hot tears streamed down my face. I don't know this animal, but I felt so much for her. I quickly shifted and went closer to check the wounds. The wounds were so deep and she was bleeding profusely. “This animal can't survive this. It'll die any moment from now.” Helen said in my head. I believed her because, based on what the eye can see, she's in a critical condition. I thought and thought of what to do to help this animal but couldn't come up with anything. Suddenly, there was lightning everywhere in the forest, as everywhere was very dark before now. I checked around to know where it was coming from. Surprisingly, the light was emitting from my right hand. I've never seen such a thing in my life before. I tapped on it to see if the light would go off but I ended up hurting myself. My wolf whimpered in my head. “Stop hitting yourself that hard. This light is one of the hidden treasures inside of you that you know nothing about. I guess it's the healing light. Yes, it is. Touch it on that animal and she'll come back to life.” My wolf has not spoken to me this way before. One thing I always do is to believe my wolf because she always tells me the truth. I went closer to the animal, and as soon as I touched my right hand that had the light on it, she started jerking, and the light enveloped her totally. She kept jerking for a few minutes before she slumped back and the light disappeared. “She is dead. What have I done? I would have allowed her rather than killing her.” I cried out. My wolf smiled in my head. “Stop crying. She's not dead. She's very much asleep. Allow her to sleep so that she can be totally fine.” I heaved a sigh of relief and was happy she was still alive. As we were waiting for this animal to wake up from sleep before delving deeper into the forest, what we heard and saw shocked us. “Stop right there. Don't take a step forward.” An unfamiliar voice boomed into the darkness making me tu rn like a robot. Two men had the guns immediately I turned.
