2. NEW STUDENT

1470 Words
After reaching home, Aanya sees that her mother's car was parked, so she assumed her mother was home today. She hurriedly walked up to her room to avoid getting in her mother's way. Aanya already had enough embarrassment as of today and she didn't need her mother hurling hurtful words at her to top it off. She was sick of crying everyday. Tired. She liked to keep a journal and do her work in a routinely manner. She was not always like this. Under confident, timid, scared to open up fearing she would only be laughed upon. So she wrote a journal, filling the pages with her troubles. Her emotions. Emotions she couldn't keep holding tight. She freshened up and decided to watch some anime (jjk). She liked gojo satoru. He was a complex character. At a glance he is a carefree man but only when you look at him in depth you'd know how that man is suffering. She watched animes and k-dramas. It was nothing like real life. So she always liked to imagine how it would feel like to escape reality even for a second. So she watched these to escape her troubling reality. She needed that escape. Living in that house would make anyone go insane. But she had adapted to that toxic environment where she is hated to her very guts. An hour already had passed. She didn't even realise how one hour had gone by. She went downstairs and noticed her mother was not in the kitchen and her car was also not parked. She probably left already. Seizing the opportunity she made herself some white sauce pasta for lunch. She was not a good cook but she atleast tried. She washed the dishes and quickly changed into her pajamas. After such an eventful, long day, she decided to take a nap. She deserved it after all. It was already dark when she woke up from her nap. She decided to make some notes to keep up with her classes. She was not intelligent. She had to keep up ahead of what was being taught in her classes and go out of her way to make extra notes and memorize them. The theory papers were easy for her. She could manage them even if she didn't study for 2-3 days but maths was her weak point. So naturally she had to study Mr.Armond's paper everyday. And with Mr. White as the teacher, it was really not a good combination. He knows her weaknesses and likes to taunt about it. But she tries her best to stay in the top. She couldn't let anyone beat her at the one thing she was good at. The one thing which made her proud of herself. Shortly after she went down for dinner. Dinner with her parents was always very awkward. They didn't speak to her , she didn't speak to them. The only sound coming from the spoon and knife scraping against the plates. ~ Their classes started from 9 am in the morning. And the first period being Armond's class. So she arrives at her school early so as to not make him more angry at her. She always walked to her school. She didn't have a car. A chilly wind nipped at her skin. It was already autumn. The air has started to feel cold. She was dressed in a warm cozy sweater with a high neck beneath and a comfortable black bootcut jeans just because she was in love with them. Her skin was on the warmer tone as her mom was Indian. She was never concerned about her looks. But the way Armond looks at her made her a bit self-conscious every now and then. Captivating eyes which were a shade of warm chocolate brown colour, lips a beautiful nude pink, volumous wavy brown hair which flowed like a river. She didn't look any less than a goddess. Her name itself was the another name of goddess Durga. While Maa Durga represents strength and power, Aanya was totally the opposite. She was timid and remained in a shell of herself. ~ She enters the classroom and takes the first bench and soon after the class is filled and like always the seat beside her remains vacant. Mr White entered the classroom and he did a quick once over to all of them. In his class Aanya mostly kept her eyes down because she becomes a breathless mess if she kept looking at him. "Today we'll be having a new transfer student joining us." Armond announced to the class. It was surprising really, because their semester already went on for three and a half month. And to get a new student mid semester was unusual. The said student entered and since the only vacant seat was beside Aanya, he had to take that seat. His name was Blake Davis. He was good-looking , lean but had a strong built body. He offered her a little smile, so not wanting to seem hostile she gave him a little wave. He was handsome but not more than Mr.White. What the hell was she even thinking. She hated him. Why did her mind suddenly think that. She looked toward Mr.White to find him already looking at her with hard eyes. She blushed. She didn't know why she reacted this way whenever he looked at her. She wanted to give herself two tight slaps. She looked down, her mind drifting off. The class began and he had to bring me up again. "Ms Sharma." "Ms Sharma." "Aanya." "Aanya, look at the board, why on earth are you looking down? What the hell are you daydreaming about?" She jerked up from whatever daze she seemed to be in. She slowly craned her neck , her eyes looking up at his face, his jaw clenching with anger. His rough hands pressed on her desk and leaned down to come face to face with her. His masculine fragrance invaded her senses making her knees wobble. "Or do you already know this topic? Why don't you go up there and explain this question to the class since you already know everything." He said in a low voice, his voice underlined with rage. She looked horrified at what he just said. "I'm sorry s-sir, it's not like that." She apologised. "Then what is it like?" He asked. What would she even answer to a question like that. "What did I tell on the first day, pray tell?" "To g-give my full attention on you during class." She replied. So much for not stuttering. "And what did I tell you about repeating myself." "Y-your don't like repeating yourself." The way she said it seemed more like a question. "So why do you do that when I clearly told you not to." He heaved an exasperated sigh and walked back to the board and continued his tasks. He also informed that he would take a test tomorrow as their mid-terms are coming up. Their mid- term exams will start from next week. Before leaving, he also gave them a group assignment. A group consisting of two people and if there is someone left out they can join their friends groups. Blake asked if he could be Aanya's partner since he is new and doesn't know anyone. She agreed right away because she didn't really have any friends. And she didn't want to go on and ask everyone if they would like to be her partner. But even though Alyssa talked to her sometimes but knowing her , she would most probably dump all the work on Aanya. The day came to an end and she got ready to go home. She was at her locker taking out some books to start their assignment when she felt someone staring at her. But when she looked around she didn't see anyone. So she did not give it much thought. On her way home, she saw a cute bakery. The bakery had a fresh vibe to it. It was homey. Just then Aanya saw that a help needed sign was up. She went inside and approached the owner. The owner was a sweet middle-aged lady with a chubby figure. She asked if she could work in the bakery and the owner, her name was Violet , sweetly said Aanya could work right away without any questions asked. Turns out the lady was in dire need of help. It was written on her face. Dark circles were under her eyes and her face tired indicating she was really working hard to make her customers satisfied. Aanya informed that she would work from tomorrow after her classes and Violet agreed happily and gave her some vanilla cupcakes to take home. She was really sweet. . . . . . ___________________________________________
