Chapter Twelve“Wake up, Sheena! Wake up! It’s six of the hour.” “Six o’clock,” Sheena muttered sleepily, but automatically, as she opened her eyes to see Renée standing by her bed already half-dressed. She found it almost increasingly difficult to wake up in the morning, not only because she was tired from the day before but also because she was sleeping very badly. In the daytime there was so much to do that she had little time to think, but once darkness had fallen and Renée’s soft rhythmic breathing from the other bed told Sheena that she had fallen asleep, her thoughts came chasing back into her mind and with them a misery that was inescapable.
