Adam I knew something was wrong from the instant we woke up, but I hadn’t been able to bring it up. There had been no time during training and I’d had to go running for the kitchens the instant it was over. As breakfast was being served, I kept glancing out the door into the mess hall looking for her. I never saw her, or the others in the pack, come in. Were they okay? Had they gone back to the cabins? Had something happened? With each passing moment, the knot in my gut kept getting tighter and tighter. It wasn’t until after the last few stragglers left the hall when I tried to reach out to Jadea. Her mind was curiously, and worryingly, closed off. She hadn’t ever blocked me out entirely before and I was instantly running out of the kitchens, shouting an apology and a quick explanation
