They both went back to work with a bad taste in their mouths. Lana was disappointed because she felt Hayden didn’t understand or support her decision. In the meantime, she came to realize she hadn’t approached him with a question, but had confronted him with the facts, and instead of his opinion, she had only wanted his approval. For now, though, she oppressed her feelings. Instead, she was taken over by a passionate enthusiasm to help, and this filled her every moment.
As he returned to the office, Hayden had an end-of-the-world feeling. His immediate colleagues realized this at once as he stormed down the hall to his office, sending dark glances everywhere. Reaching his office room, he slammed his door shut with a loud bang.
