Lana sat next to her, completely apathetic; Pam knew very well that it would be pointless to try to start a conversation with her. She silently stared out the window, the tears welling up from her eyes. Pamela wrapped an arm around her and stroked her hair sadly. They were quiet for the whole trip. Upstairs, Pamela pulled off Lana’s shoes and dress. She saw to Lana as if to a child. She let down Lana’s hair and walked her to her bed.
