LAURA’S POV The sound of my heels clicking against the marble echoed through the hallway. I could feel his eyes shooting daggers at me. The man I once feared—now, I could face him without trembling. That marriage suffocated me. A dying man’s wish for our happiness turned into a horror show. As I strolled past Liam’s room, the light spilling through his half-open door caught my attention. He must’ve forgotten to close it. I brushed it off and was about to keep walking—until something caught my eye. I gasped. There, above the fireplace, was a framed picture of me. I could barely make it out, but I knew—it was me. “Oh my God… What is my picture doing here?” I whispered, covering my mouth in disbelief. I pushed the door slightly open and peeked inside.
