11 One of the first things I did the next day was tell Bobby about Toby’s demise. He was stunned and had to grip his desk to stop from falling over. I also detected tears forming in his eyes. “You’re sure?” “As sure as I can be at the moment. I was sitting next to Reggie when he got the call.” Bobby stretched, rubbed the back of his neck. “But he seemed so cool and confident when I took him to the airport. Even looking back now I didn’t sense anything. Just the opposite. He seemed ready to take on whatever.” That makes two of us who had no inkling I thought, but there was no reason to question Reggie.
