Later that day when I had a cancellation, I pulled Jackie’s book out of my desk drawer. It was a copy like the original turned in for evidence that described the murder. I even folded over the same bookmarked page. Earlier, I had scanned it but didn’t learn anything. I thought I’d give this another try, this time reading it through. I grimaced at the cover of the naked lady. I knew what danger lurked ahead. Sondra, the victim was a romance writer like Jackie whose stories seemed to be based on her real life adventures. Her conquests, three virile, handsome lovers, were Doak, a book editor, Ben, a doctor, and, Julio, a bartender.
