MARCH March 17th I'm sure you're not surprised to learn that isolation suits us, Trish. But you might be surprised to learn that so does being on the run. We live best when we have the most to lose. I've spent weeks trying to block out the memories of Austin. All the missed signs—the oddly bare apartment, his few to no friends, how he'd stalked me. I feel so incredibly stupid. I allowed myself to be used and it was apparent to everyone but me that he wasn't what he said he was. I've said nothing about this to Don. He is happier than I've ever seen him, and I've been basking in that. I once heard that over time, love causes a sort of amnesia. That we eventually forget old lovers in favor of the one person we truly belong with. God, I hope that's true. Meanwhile, there is a man waiting
