I read the doctor's instructions. I was supposed to rest as much as possible, take painkillers every four hours, not lift anything, and keep traveling to a minimum. So much for resting and travel. I swallowed the prescribed number of pills and hoped they'd work anyway. "You're going to love this," Don said as I settled myself on the passenger's side in his truck.
