Chapter Thirty-Four Mark woke as the first shafts of sunlight filtered through the dusty venetian blinds. It took a few minutes for him to emerge from the stupor of sleep. Why did he have such an aching head? Then the events of the previous night came back to him in a rush. Mark opened his eyes, gasping as he tried to move cramped limbs. His body was sprawled over hard floorboards, and he had a painful crick in the neck where his head had been jammed up against a television cabinet. An early morning children’s show blared loudly.
