Chapter Five Beth awoke to rays of morning light streaming through the window. Her mind cleared the fog of sleep, allowing yesterday’s uncommon events to crowd in. Noah’s eager offer of help, Mark’s unwelcome advances. It was almost funny. After two years of living like a nun, she’d suddenly drawn the attention of two men at once. Mark’s clumsy pass had so unsettled her that she’d briefly thought about cancelling her ride with Noah after lunch. But no.
