♥ Casey ♥ By the time the day before Valentine’s Day rolled around, my nerves felt raw. The firm was quiet. I should have used the calm to clear my inbox. Instead, I spent the first hour rearranging pens and reopening the same email without reading a word. Lance had kissed me goodbye in the kitchen, like he always did. His hands had been warm on my waist, his mouth soft and certain. Nothing about the way he touched me said distance. It should have calmed me. And yet, it didn’t.
