Chapter 18 The Surprise Part 2

Pov Calista

I was sitting on the couch waiting for Ethan. I was so nervous. This was it there was no turning back now. This was no longer an agreement of marriage. This was real, I hope I didn't make a mistake by doing this.

Ethan finally came out his dirty blonde was perfectly messy. He had his five-clock shadow. He wearing a tight-fitting dark gray flannel shirt, dark blue fade jeaned straight-leg jeans his leather jacket. I don't think I have ever seen him look so handsome. I was positive he was a model. He noticed me staring and said "Take a picture it will last longer" with a laugh. He grabbed a pair of keys and we head out the door.

There was a black sports car waiting for us outside he came over and opened my door it was those doors that went up. Thank you I said. I sat down and then I remembered I didn't get to tell him. He came around and got in the driver's seat and started the car. I had to tell him

"Ethan, I didn't get a chance to tell you I got the job. I start Monday, and that's not even the best part Mr.Bass and Mr. Evans gave us an apartment. The whole first year is free, and it's only a few blocks from the building." I said. He turned to look at me.

"Congrats, babe. I knew you could do it and an apartment? Do you want to go look at it?" he said. "Yeah, we don't have to move in there it did seem to go to be true. The whole thing felt too easy to be true." I said.

He looked at me with a confused look. "Why do you say that?" he asked. I shifted in the seat and balled my hands up. "Look, I know Mr. Bass is your friend, but I swear he was flirting with me. He also said that Mr. Evans was very angry when I was rejected the first time. Oh, I think I got a look at Aaron, " I said excitedly.

"When?" he said, looking a bit uncomfortable."The first time I went in, he was blocked pretty well, but he still looked handsome and every fit. I only saw his side profile. He was wearing a ball hat and sunglasses. See I told you he wasn't fat or bald." I said with a smile.

Ethan looked uncomfortable and mad. "I will make sure Dylan doesn't overstep when I return his car." he snapped and quickly add "Also he was wearing a hat you said how can you know he isn't, in fact, in fact bald," he said with a smirk.

"Well, you could still see his hair. Funny enough, he reminded me of you." I said with a chuckle. He looked at me and started driving he asked for the address I gave to him. It was silent the rest of the way. I guess he didn't like me comparing him to other men.

We arrived at the building it was a brick building that looked a bit old. We walk in and take the elevator to the first floor, and he finds the apartment. I dig out the keys we go in. Inside everything was new it looked too modern for the building. Everything was a navy-themed color with grays and blacks. I look around the kitchen is a decent size, and the living room and dining room are connected. "Wow, this place is so nice." I said. I started getting this feeling in my stomach that they wanted something more from me, but I kept those concerns to myself.

Ethan was extremely silent. "What do you think?" I asked. He looked at me and said,"It's nice." That was it. "Ethan, what's wrong? you have been acting strange since the car." I said.

"It's nothing, don't worry Cali." He said, heading towards the back. there was a pretty good-sized bathroom it had a tub and a separate shower. Then 2 doors oh thank god 2 rooms! the bedrooms were average. I was happy with the place. "So should we take it?" I said. "Yeah, it's free, right? why not it's closer to your job." he said something was off, but I knew he wouldn't tell me.

"Ok, so we can start the move on Friday?" I said. He nodded his head and went back to the living room. We were heading out of the apartment when a person came out from next door. He was in his thirties I think and he was good looking. He looked surprised to see us coming out. "Oh, you two moving in?" he said "Yes we are." I replied politely. Ethan, on the other hand, just stared at the guy. "Cool, well, I'm Steven, your neighbor. Let me know if you need anything." he said directly to me. "She won't need anything from you." Ethan hissed. He needs to control himself better. I smiled. "It's nice to meet you, bye," I said, grabbing Ethan's hand and dragging him away. I was quiet till we got to the car. "Ethan, you need to control yourself. You can't go around being rude to everyone." I said.

He looked at me and said, "I don't like the guy. He gave me a bad feeling, and I sure as hell didn't like the way he was looking at you. So I won't be nice and don't talk to him if you see him." he said and took off again. I didn't like his attitude, but every couple disagreed on things. "So where are we going?" I said. He just smiled."You have to wait." he said.

A while later, we arrived at the aquarium located on Coney Island. It was beautiful. I had never been to coney Island. I was concerned about how much he spent on this, but he kept insisting that he didn't spend anything. Everything was on the house. Well, how many favors could he have?

Despite my reservation of him possibly lying to me. I wanted to enjoy this I had never been. The aquarium was everything to the animals it was so calming and beautiful. We held hands, and we shared kisses. This is beyond what I excepted from him. We took selfies. He even asked a stranger to take our photos. I wasn't a big social media person, but I felt like sharing this with the world. After we finished seeing the aquarium, we strolled the beach and the pier. We had hot dogs and snacks and played in the arcades. It had been a long day, but he said we had to go to the amusement park. I had always wanted to go on the wonder wheel. Maybe I would ask him.

We entered the park it was lit up like a festival everything glowing in neno lights it was beautiful. He played games he won me a prize got on all the rides. He looked at his watch and told me we had to get on the wheel. I was so excited I was jumping like a little girl. It was our turn to get in. I saw him whisper something into the guys ear and shake his hand with the guy letting us on the ride. He sat down and put his arm around my shoulders.

We around and around, it was beautiful. It was coming to a stop, so I was getting to get up, but Ethan had other plans. "We are going one more time," he said. I agreed I didn't want to get off, so up we went again. Finally, after all the carts were full it started again. This time though it stopped at the very top it was amazing, and the lights the sounds. everything seems perfect in this moment. Then I see fireworks start to light up the sky. Colors all around us I looked at Ethan and he was just staring at me. I was memozied by the show.

Once it was coming to a close. I turned back to Ethan "This day has been amazing thank you so much." I said "I'm gald your happy and you enjoy it." he said. "Cali I know I have been weird all day but I got you something." he said.

Then he pulled out a box and gave it to me. I open the box and I was stunned it was a gorgeous old fashioned vintage ring all the the band didn't go with it. It was stunning it was white gold with a huge oval diamond in the center the tear drop was incrusted with smaller diamonds all around just taking a guess this ring was easily four or five carts.

"Ethan this beautiful but I can't accept this." I said He looked at me puzzled "Why not?" he asked. "This ring must worth alot of money how did you get it?" I asked He smiled "The only thing I bought was the band. The ring was my mother's one of the last thing she left me. It's a family heirloom. I know she would have want my wife to her it." He said he took the box and placed the rings on my fingers. he smiled and said "There no way anyone will miss this or question if your married." he said I kept looking at my finger it was beautiful buy I didn't feel comfortable wearing it. When we got off we went to sit on a bench. "Thank you Ethan but honestly I don't feel comfortable with this. What about if I lose it or I damage it. If you want me to wear a ring I will but I can't have this one. It will cause me to much stress" I said. He looked at me and said "Wear for now. I will get you something else but please just keep it on till I can get it." he said "Okay Ethan if that's what you want but please get it before Monday" I said and then I remembered "Oh I almost forgot" I said while ramaging in my bag.

I pulled out the box and gave it to him. He looked at me and opened it. His eyes went big he grabbed the ring and twirled it in his hand he slipped it on his finger and said nothing. Finally he said "Did you make this?" he asked I nodded my head. "Do you not like it?" I asked. "No I love it. when you gave the box I thought you were going to give me the other ring back." he said. Still staring at his finger "The other ring is gone. It never felt right for you. So I decided to make a new one." I said.

"Thank you. This is unique. Where did you get the idea?" he asked curiously. I smiled and started laughing."I'm not sure I kind of just imagined you. It's dark and light just like you. You have demons. I can see that, but you also are trying hard to get away from them." I said. He thanked me again and gave me a kiss. This was everything I imagined and more. We headed home.
