Chapter 10: The Forgotten Larson

Pov Ethan

I woke up late for the first time in a long time. It's been easier to sleep knowing Jade if that's her name was sleeping in the same room. There was something about her that just kept calling me. She was like a siren, and her song was perfectly suited to me. I wonder if Pi sent anything for me. I grabbed my phone and a new email from him.

I opened it and straight away. The first thing I saw was a picture and the name Jade Larson, but this was not my wife. It was that ugly blonde. I knew it wait so that a**hole had Cali but chose to cheat with this. Alright, then I got up to go find her. Where the hell is she? I called her, and she kept saying that it wasn't my business. That was about to change because she isn't getting rid of me he sent over the marriage certificate it had her name, Calista Larson. The adopted daughter. As to a tech company owner, tracking her is child's play. Found her the Larson home. I owed them a visit to drop off the rest of the money. My lawyer had given it to me. I need to make a quick stop first.

I stopped at my penthouse, took a quick shower and put on one of the nicest suits I owned, and grabbed the keys to my Lamborghini. No, I wasn't going to say anything about myself to them. I wanted to give this a shot with Calista, though. This means dressing the part, but I doubt she was interested in money. Her file had nothing about her or pictures it was like she never existed.

I arrived at the Larson home. I got out, walked up, and I was going to knock. The door was open, and then I heard yelling so I let myself in. I got closer to listen in on the screaming match.

So far, I heard Calista threatening to tell me the truth, and then she was insulted. Then I was insulted. Jane said she was the reason for Calista not being able to get a job. That they only had one daughter perfect. I will take care of that. I step out, and what I saw had me seeing red Jane had struck my wife and was going in for another hit. I quickly closed the gap and grabbed her hand hard. Cali opened her eyes, her eyes wide "Ethan" she yelled. I pushed Jane, and she fell dramatically. I grabbed Calista and hugged her, making her look at me her face was a bit swollen from the hit.

Jane's eyes went wide with fear. "Oh, Ethan when did you get here?" she said calmly. "Are you okay babe?" I asked Cali "yes" she responded in utter shock.

I heard some sound behind us. I turned and saw the real Jade I looked at her with disgust. "Don't ever put your hands on my wife again." I said in a low but dangerous tone. Jane shrunk back a bit "Oh you just caught me trying to correct my daughter that is all. How long have you been here?" she asked again.

I looked at her and replied "Long enough to know this isn't Jade. That the really Jade is standing behind us." I said

"Oh Ethan you are mistaken. You miss heard," she said with a smile. I had enough of this. I let Cali go and I walk straight to Jane I take the photo print of what I received this morning. I hand her the picture She lost all the color in her face. I smirked

"You think I'm stupid don't you. You think I wouldn't know your nasty daughter's reputation. If you think I'm mad about this I'm not... I should thank you for this. I think I came out winning. Here I had come to give you this check the lawyer drop off." I said pretending to hand it over but right before she grabbed it I snatched it before she could grab it and ripped it in half I smiled and put it back in my pocket. At this point, real Jade came running and screaming "how dare you. Disrespect me like that. Who the f**k do you think you are. Your acting like that wh0r3 is better than me! are you blind? look me and look at her!" she was yelling like a deranged person.

"I feel like the blind people are Jack and the i***t Peter...Paul whatever his name is. If they think either of you. Come close to Calista. I will be telling Adam by the way have fun dealing with him. Our deal is done. Come babe let's go home." I said We were about to leave when I remembered the money situation.

"One more thing that money better come to Cali as promised if you are even a day late from Saturday. Do you understand me? You think I don't have connections your wrong. A lot of people owe me favors. Don't try me." I said.

I took Calista's hand and we left. I opened the passenger door for her. Then I round the car and got in. I took off I pulled over at a park. I need answers and I need them now. I parked then I turned to look at my wife. she was staring at me about to cry.

"Ethan I'm sorry please look the agreement can still work. I don't have anywhere to go and I needed the money. I didn't want to lie but I need the money." she cried. into her hands

"Hey, Calista it's fine. I should be thanking you. You saved me from that situation. I said with a smirk. "What do you need the money for?" I asked.

She went on to explain what the money was for she didn't give too many details but it was a good cause. "Alright I will help you in any way I can." I said

"Ethan you don't have to I just need a place to stay and I will contribute. I'm not your burden. I don't need pity I can get myself this." she said.

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about actually. Look Cali I want to give this a shot a real shot. We are already married why don't we get to know each other? Let's go on a proper date. I can make you happy." I said

She looked confused "You still want me? I lied to you." she said "Yeah you lied to me about your name but I know you didn't lie or pretend to be her." I said I don't know why but I wanted this she seems to accept me with nothing and she has an amazing heart. I wanted to give her the world but she would be in danger if she knew just yet.

"Ethan I don't know I don't have a job we are both broke. I don't even have a job and where did you get that suit it's expensive and this car?" she said I'm glad she asked.

She avoiding but I had this all covered I smiled big "I think I can help with the job situation. Have you ever heard of Evans Industry?" I said with a huge grin.

"Of course I have! I have applied but I haven't heard back. Their fashion department is amazing and Aaron Evans is a legend he's achieved so much and he's only 27. He came from nothing dropped out of college and made a name for himself. The fact that he's been able to keep himself a secret is quite impressive. There Jewelry is a bit outdated but I have so many ideas. That's my dream job! but they care about where you went and not talent. I didn't go to a prestigious college." she said sadly.

"Well lucky for you I have a high connection over there," I said. She looked excited "What! you do! who is it Aaron Evans?" she said with hope wait does she have a crush on him? "Mmm no sorry it's not but it's close enough have you heard of Dylan Bass?" I said while typing away on my phone. I sent him a message telling him he better, not f**k this up or he wasn't getting a bonus or any more weekends off.

"The Vice president of Evans Industry. Yes!" she said this easier than I thought. "Yeah, that's him." I said smiling at her "Well he's a friend of mine and owes me a bunch of favors. This suit and car are his. Do you want me to call him and see what I can do about a job." I said She was stunned "really! I don't want a job handed to me tho I wanna go through the process but a foot in the door will be enough." she said with a huge smile. "Okay I can do that but I need something from you. Go on a proper date with me I'm not joking about this" I said.

Cali sat there thinking. "Get me the interview and we have a deal Ethan." She said. Yes! I called Dylan he better not f**k this up. He finally answered "Ethan bro what's up? please don't tell me you ruined my car." he said

"Dylan the car is fine. I'm calling for something else. Having to do with your job?" I said

"Look man I already told you I can't disclose anything about Aaron his nondisclosure is no joke. If I ever had children they would be ruined and their children after them" He ranted. "Dylan can you shut the f**k up it's not about him. Can you get an interview for the designer this woman has talent she hasn't been able to get a job. The Larson seem to have blacklisted her." I said.

"I can't guarantee anything man but have her send me her resume and a portfolio. I will take a look If it looks good I will slip it to the hiring manager." he said. Goof acting buddy I thought. "Hey remember my wedding ring the one you were trying to give me money for because the design was so unique?" I said "Yeah you ready to sell it?" he said "No but the person I'm sending over is the original artist and creator of that ring." I said.

Silence more Silence. He came back on "Nevermind Interview Tuesday at 10 30 am. Make sure she brings a resume portfolio and a sample of her work." he said. "If this pans out Ethan I will be getting a raise and I will owe you again" he said and hung up. I looked over at her and she was grinning and bouncing in her seat. "So I did it. That means a date right?" I said

"Yes, but I need to go home now and start preparing this is huge." She said.

Well, she wasn't wrong there. I wonder if she had a suitable outfit.
