5 ELENA My head was spinning. My heart beating too fast and my eyes getting bigger and bigger till I felt the pain erupting from their sockets. "I..." I start shaking my head but I can't speak. I wanted to but I feel a sharp kick from my baby and I look down and spread my hand on my belly only to feel another sharp one. "Lock her up!" I heard Emmet's cold voice order and I look up. "No! I'm innocent!" I cry out but suddenly I hear elder Marcus's scornful voice. "Innocent? I would advice you Emmet to do away with the wine I gifted you last night, who knows, she might have poisoned it too by now!" "I haven't done anything. It's a set up!" I cried out and pointed to Stephanie but she only returns a scornful look at me without saying any word. The guards came close to pick me but I drew away from them refusing to be taken as a criminal. "I am innocent!" Just as I said so, Emmet begins to walk from where he stood and draws towards me. I draw back on my knees and wedge my hands over my face to block against what looks like an incoming attack but all I feel is his grip on my arm as he lifts me up against his body. "I have heard enough of your lies." He grumbled and roughly led me to the dungeons himself. Throughout our trek to the dark place, he ignored my cries and pleas and as soon as he unlocked the gate, he threw me off him like I had been staining his body. I stagger across the dark until I feel myself crashing against the rough brick wall and I feel an entire shake down to my bones and I scream in pain as my head churns with serious ache from the impact. I fall to the ground and start crying seriously. "My father has been nothing but good to you!" He roared and all I can do is tighten my eyes from the pain I felt through my body while I grabbed my belly. "Please ..." I cried. "I didn't do it!" "Shut up!" He reached me and squats beside me then grabs my hair, lifting my face to his. With tears pouring from my sockets like a river, I peered into eyes that have been completely taken over by monstrous rage. "I thought maybe you had some innocence in you that along the line I would see it but each time you prove yourself to be just what I think of you and I was never wrong in the first place! You're not my mate, Elena- You're nothing but a slave to me now and as that you shall be treated." He lets go roughly and draws back. "I don't want to ever see your face again." He yelled bitterly and my body falls to the ground as I had lost the energy to even hold myself still, the pain had travelled down from the rest of my body and settled down in my lower abdomen that I couldn't even call on him anymore or plead my innocence as he left. "Emmet ..." I whispered but I could not even hear my own voice. That's when I realized I was in here alone again. But the pain was becoming more intense with each passing second. I can't bear this anymore. Just then I begin to feel a moist up between my thighs and I hold the blanket in which I was loosely wrapped and struggled to raise it up so could look at myself but before I could do that, I felt a soft splash of thick warm liquid dripping from my body over the floor. My water just broke! "No..." I cried. "It's not yet time..." I cried to myself as I felt a new kind of pain shooting and spreading through me. Just at that moment, my maid arrived standing behind the gate. "Mistress ..." From her tone I could tell that she had been crying maybe after being informed of what had happened to me. Good thing she was here. "Gotha... My baby .... is coming." I cried with my head to the floor. Gotha screamed in panic and rushed to get the midwife. I reached for the wall while on my knees and felt a slow dizziness coming into me with a forceful intensity. I could die from this, if I didn't get help any time from now. I was already feeling a sort of dizziness when I heard the gate squeal open and a set of footsteps rushed in and I was laid on my back. My heartbeat was increasing with each passing second and it felt like my life was drawing out of me already. Gotha held my hand tight and I kept hearing the midwife's voice encouraging me to remain awake. But I wasn't sure if I could hold on anymore ....... By the breaking of dawn, I was sitting on the floor, with my back to the wall, holding my babies on both arms. Yes! After all the struggle and pain I was blessed with two lovely boys The healer had not been able to tell the s*x of my child yet but I guess she had not discovered yet that I was pregnant with twins and being my first pregnancy, I didn't feel it either. I was smiling since the moment my cute babies arrived. Nothing could take this joy away from me. Not even my current situation. "They're premature yet so strong." The midwife had said. "You'll be doing a lot of work to take care of them so they don't fall sick, Elena." She had said. "I'll go inform sire." Gotha had said and my heart raced as they left me alone. The thought of Emmet hearing about my birth left me skeptical and I could not tell how he would react. But after a few minutes he stepped in and I could not look him in the face. Somehow, the approval that I wanted from him all these years seemed to have disappeared. After how he treated me some hours ago, I'm not sure if I could care about what he thought of me anymore. I just wanted my sons and I to be together from now. He stood in front of me, his huge figure acting like a fence over me and out babies. I don't know what was in his mind but I could tell it was a lot. After what seemed like an hour of speechlessness, he reached for the babies and I handled him one of them. He held him for a while before taking the other and returning the first back to me. After what seemed like forever, he spoke. "I would give you just a few months of freedom because of the babies' care and to heal. After that, you return to being my slave and that is final." He said and began to move out of the cell. "Where are you taking him?" I asked quietly and he stopped but as of deciding he didn't need to entertain my question, he walked out leaving me with only one of them. I assured myself that everything was fine. I was certain he just wanted to have a time with his son and maybe show off to others before bringing him back to me. But I had waited for another hour without him coming back. I didn't feel the passage of time because I had been staring at the face of my son in my arms. But eventually I realized he was taking time to bring him back to me. Almost as if in line with my thought I hear footsteps down the hallway and I feel a little relief that he was finally bringing him back. But as the steps got closer, I realized they didn't belong to Emmet but Stephanie. I stiffened up the moment she stood at the door and stared down at me. I stared back clutching my baby tightly in my arms as I glared at her evil face. "Congratulations, Elena." Her thin voice echoes strangely. "Where is my baby?" "Aren't you even going to appreciate my greetings first?" "I know you're the one doing this, Stephanie. It has always been you. You have bene setting me up since I got here just so you could turn Emmet against me." "You don't know for how long I have wanted Emmet, you don't! I was the one who was always meant to be his mate. I have known and liked him longer before you came into the picture. But instead, the alpha saw something special in you and yet he didn't me!" "Is that why you killed him?" "I would do anything to have Emmet!" She said with a little chuckle at the end. I shook my head slowly at the evil she emitted shamelessly. But I had better things to care about at the moment. "Where is Emmet? I want to see my baby." "He sent me to you actually." She sighed before continuing. "Your baby is dead." As I heard those strange words, my heart sank in a way that they never have before. I stopped feeling its beat for a second and when it resumed, I felt a kind of pain and it dawned on me that I wanted to speak but had lost my voice all of a sudden. After a deep clearing of my throat, I whispered. "What?" "He started convulsing due to his prematurity. Everything was done to keep the little being going but his heart suddenly stopped. I'm sorry." "Where is he?" I cried. "That's all you need to know." She turned around and vanished from my sight. "No." I cried my heart out. It was that very moment that I made up my mind that I was going to get away from this pack for good. Only if I had not gone into premature labour which was caused by the allegation against me, both of my babies would have been with me now. I cried. "Where would you go?" Gotha asked. "Anywhere. I can't continue staying here. Not after what has happened. I have sacrificed too much and my mate doesn't even care. I can't lose anything more " "But you know master won't let you leave this pack!" "I know but he can't stop me from leaving the packhouse. I can't live within the castle walls any more. After all, he doesn't even want to see my face. So I am going to leave till I can set myself entirely free from him and the royal family." I managed to explain to her amidst heavy tears. That night, I strapped my baby to my chest and packed a few things. In the thickness of the dark night, I escaped from the walls of the packhouse and delved across the dark streets towards an abandoned house that I knew far away. It was all I could think of for now. At least I would find peace there. But just as I thought I had successfully accomplished my short freedom and was about to face the peaceful harshness of life outside the packhouse, a sharp light blared at me and I had to raise my hand over my face to block the light. The light goes off and I look at my path to see the source of the heavy light- A big black Mercedes Benz parked in front of an even more bigger and expensive one. I stood alone in the middle of the lonely road watching the drama unfolding as the car doors opened and about four men all dressed in richly tailored black suits emerged to stand erect beside the car. I continued to watch in confusion as one of them walked to the car behind and opened the door. I squinted my eyes as I watched the man who came out of the car. He was in a similar suit as the men and the others bowed as he came forward. He was a huge old man with curly grey hair amidst a few black ones growing on his head. His thick beard was finely shaved and also carried a grey colour of agedness. With each step he took, it was clear that he was a holder of great power and he emitted a kind of aura that was enough to make strong men bow at his feet in awe. A billionaire or something even greater than that he appeared to be. He came forward slowly as if counting each steps he took with his golden staff in hand. He was still coming until he stood right in front of me. I had taken a step back, a bit in skeptical and confused to watch him. I could not see him clearly but there was something about his bright blue eyes that showed warmness instead of hostility and a bit of ...sadness. "I have found you at last." He said. That voice ... It was familiar. That voice was too similar to something associated with my childhood. But I could not pin it. "Who are you?" I had to ask. "It's me ... Your father."
