Ronnie's POV
We head our way back to the department the moment the phone call ended, it was a friend of mine. Or perhaps an acquaintance, according to her. Anyhow, I couldn't help but to think that it was a bit wrong to use her. I mean, I know it is. But I'm desperate so I guess it isn't much of a problem. No biggies asking for help, right?
On how she must've convinced Lopez, that really made me wondering. I mean, I really didn't even thought that she would actually be successfully in this.
But knowing Lopez..
"Are you thinking how she must've done it?" Wrights suddenly asked me while I'm very much focused in the road.
I slowly nodded. Are my thoughts too vivid for him to notice? "But anyhow, that's Raine, she's always been clever. She knows her ways."
Minutes passed and we arrived safely, I mean the car was really close to flying. Some were throwing questions at us on where we have been but we answered no one.
Can they not see that we're in a hurry?
I immediately received a text from Raine saying she's waiting for us in the office. Good thing she ain't trolling about her words, because the moment we set foot in the office, she was already there.
She's sitting on the middle part of the table with my stress ball in her left hand and that angelic look in her face that she always wear. I can't even tell if she's pissed. Or so.
People would always think she's a damsel in distress, when deep down she's really a fire-breathing dragon. I laughed at my own thoughts which made them both confused.
I cleared my throat. But let's not lose focus in that.
"It's about time." she said while she was squeezing the ball. Is she mad or what? I don't know.
A woman smiling could mean a lot, which makes it confusing and well, scary.
I just shortly nodded and walked closer to her. She stood up and tapped something on the table.
It's the folder that holds the autopsy of Mrs. Reed.
"Steffany Reed, 35 years old, female, approximately 163.0 cm in height, a resident of.." I silently read inside my head as they were both looking at me. And I guess, they're also waiting for what my comment would be.
As I was scanning through the pages, processing all the things that's in here, hoping I would find something. I came across a word that wasn't much familiar to me.
"Bacillus anthracis. What is that?" I confusingly blurted out.
She took the folder from my hands even though I wasn't done reading yet. I looked at her with disbelief, how rude.
She looked at me and Wrights with that uninterested look in her face. "Yes. Bacillus anthracis. It is a bacteria that causes anthrax. You guys familiar with that?"
Both Wrights and I shook our heads. Miss, I was still reading, I wanted to say.
"Once anthrax spores are inhaled or either gets inside your body, the spores will be activated. And when it does, the bacteria multiplies and spreads causing for someone to be very ill."
"Ill?"
"Yes, some experiences nausea, cold, headache, dizziness and even death." she paused and scanned through the pages. "There are types of anthrax really which I'm not gonna mention because that isn't what we're focusing about. Except hers' which is the pulmonary anthrax. And there were a lot of anthrax spores inside her lungs. By a lot, I mean a lot."
"She was suffocated?" I asked.
"She was poisoned. You know, something like this already happened years ago. Before I came here, I researched it because it is somewhat ringing to my ears, turns out I was right. Have you guys heard about Amerithrax?"
"Wait, I've heard about that too! Was that the one where they received a letter?" Wrights asked while scratching his nose.
"Yes. That one. It was an anthrax attack by terrorists. There were five people that died, and some were just severely ill."
"Do you think someone that did that to her must've done the same thing?" I asked.
"Who knows? If that person was a fan on what the terrorists did. Or such." Yukihira jokingly replied.
"You think Mr. Reed could've done it Lewis?" Wrights asked.
"I couldn't tell, but it's possible. And if he's the one that did it then there's no need for him to send letters or such like what they did."
"Those things are legal, by the way." she paused and scratched her head. "It is if you promised that you'll use it properly, but people these days, you know how it goes." she shrugged and tapped me on my shoulder. "I have to go I still have work to do, I'm just gonna leave this here." she added and gave the folder back to me. About time ma'am.
I stopped her right before she was about to leave. "Wait, can you tell me how you convinced Lopez?"
She shrugged and had this huge grin plastered on her face. "You know, this and that." she said then left.
Hey, I wanted to know!
I looked at Wrights as he was looking at the door that just closed. Weird. Does Wrights likes her too?
Well, I couldn't blame him for that.
As I was about to say something, the door suddenly burst open, showing this girl again. "Oh lastly, I heard Lopez talking to someone earlier saying it was a thief that found the body. Eavesdropping sometimes is very useful, you should try it sometimes." she chuckled.
Wait, what? "How?"
"Oh that, I don't know. I don't think they mentioned that one. But what are the possibilities?"
I heard Wrights giggled. "A thief? What? This is getting funny! What's happening to Glendale!" he sarcastically blurted out.
"I know right. Why was I even born here without my permission?" she paused just to giggle. "Well, I have to go now. Sayonara!" Yukihira said and totally left the office.
Wrights and I both looked at each other.
"Crazy that a burglar would find something more than gold, a dead body."
