Ronnie's POV I sighed out of frustration as the rain's falling hard as it is. My body's getting kinda numb and for I know, my efforts too, are getting useless. It's getting me nowhere. For I thought I had another string attached to where I should go, and yet, it just gave me more problems to think. I made my way back to my place feeling all confused. That guy really had the nerve to cry infront of me and still be lying. But odd as it is, for me, his emotions were somehow real, his eyes were speaking to me. It was piercing me right to my soul. I am out of words. I need to work this out fast. As I was making my way home, my phone suddenly rang. I cancelled it without looking on who it was, I'm still in the verge of breaking down along with the rain. And to the fact that I might get in trouble if I do answer it. I can barely even see the road if it wasn't for the cars and street lights. I breathe in and out as I tried to calm myself down. Somehow, the rain is helping me ease my temper. I am getting very impatient with this case that maybe I'm not being careful of it. Am I getting aggressive? Why am I even doing this? If only I just accepted everything. Their lies and everything. But then, that would make me pathetic, right? I slowed the car down and put my phone in silent because it keeps on ringing, destroying the peace that I want as of this moment. I arrived home and at that time, the rain also stopped like it's mocking me. Good job there. I threw my coat away as soon as I took it off and directly went to the bathroom to shower. I got a little bit wet in the rain, and well, I also need a bathe. I closed my eyes and drowned myself in the water, no joke, although I didn't do it in purpose. I choked when some of the water went down through my nostrils because I forgot to change the pressure of the shower and it punched me right in the face. I am getting more clumsy. The water is now calm, caressing my body like a mother's touch to its baby. Although, I still can't get my thoughts out of my head. This case, I bet the one that planned all of these is enjoying its own game. Sickening. Took me several minutes to finish. Somehow, the bathe made me feel calm. I then made myself coffee before sitting on my desk and going back to what I was thinking about earlier. Some of the folders in my past cases are still here, scattered. I didn't got the time to clean. I fetched my phone which I almost forgot about and saw Wrights' name the moment I opened it. He was also the one that called earlier. He even sent me a message saying to beep him if I'm home. This dude. I shook my head and dialled his phone number. He answered the phone after five rings all panting and everything. Weird. "You okay?" I asked. He cleared his voice before answering. I mean I can hear that. "Yes, yes. How was it?" "What it?" "You said you went somewhere, right? How did it go?" "Oh, that. I figured that the man was bluffing. I will talk to Raine tomorrow to clear things out." "I see." There was a short pause before I decided to break it. "Say Wrights, you think I could solve this one?" "Why, yes! You're one of the smartest people I know." I couldn't help but to smile while stirring my coffee, the aroma's caressing my heart. It never fails. "Thanks Wrights." "Anytime Lewis." I ended the call and took a sip in my coffee. I'll be taking another move tomorrow and I have to prepare. I will find you Mr. Reed and I will clear all of this. Morning arrived and the sky is looking all gloomy. I guess it's gonna rain again like last night. I was driving my way to the office when my phone suddenly rang. Who would call me so early in the morning? I took my phone and saw Raine's name, talking about timing, I was about to call her. I answered it as I decreased the speed of my driving, just incase. Before I can even speak, she interfered with my words saying, "Lopez is in trouble." "What? What do you mean?" I confusingly asked. "They raided a gang's place and now one of his men reported that he's been hostaged." "Wait, what?" "Go there!" She ended the call and I went to the place that she sent me as fast as I could. The moment I arrived, the place was a mess. Sirens and police cars are everywhere-- in this very morning. Good morning, Glendale! I grab my gun which I hid on my pocket and snuck in. Some guys tried to stop me but why would I want to be stopped? They were very noisy outside and inside was no difference, it was like an earthquake just happened to pass by. I then heard the man shouting back to the police from upstairs. "Y'all are gonna rot in hell! Curse you!" From the corner of my eye, I saw the stairs and decided to go up slowly, but before I could even go there. I stumbled upon a cold body that's lying randomly on the floor with a shot on his forehead. It startled me for a moment and got disgusted for some of it's blood is on my shoes. I shook my head, neglecting my emotions and just went on. The moment I got up, I then saw one room and nothing more. Wow, where could they be? I snorted, not so loud. I heaved a sigh before knocking to the door thrice. "May I come in?" I slowly asked. "Don't you ever dare go inside or else this old man will bleed to death!" I heard his response from the other side of the door. I put my hands up in the air even if he couldn't see me and said, "I'm not an enemy. I'm on your side. I have no gun, I'm just gonna talk--" "Go away! I'm not falling for that! If you think everyone here in Glendale is dumb as you guys are, well then, think again!" he blurted out. I shook my head as I couldn't stop myself from smirking. "I couldn't agree more. You're really right, they're pretty dumb." "Who are you?!" I smiled when I saw the door opened a bit. I opened it widely using my left foot and saw a tall fat guy that's very pale holding Lopez between his arms and also a gun in the other. "A citizen just like you that only want what's good for everyone." I calmly said. "Get out of he--" "You sure this is what you want?" "You don't understand!" "Then make me unde--" "My brother wanted to change!" "Your brother?" I asked, all confused. He shook his head slowly. "They're a piece of--" "s**t. I know." I slowly nodded agreeing to all his words and in the corner of my eye, I saw Lopez rolled his eyes. "Look. If you're gonna kill that man, I don't really mind.." I paused to see their reaction on which is really hilarious. They were both confused. "But if you'll do that, you're gonna be like them. You're gonna get your hands dirty. Is that what you wanted?" I slowly said. "They shot my brother earlier!" he blurted out. So, that was the dead body downstairs that I just saw. It was his brother. "So what is this right now? You want revenge?" "Yes!" he yelled. "By killing? Are you sure about that? Does your brother wants that? I thought he wanted to change?" I stared at his eyes, emotionless, hoping that he'd get back to his senses. He blinked a few times before his expression went all soft and his lips and arms started to shake. His getting paler. "No.." He sobbed and then let Lopez go. His hands were also shaking as he put the gun down. He looked at me with tears in his eyes as he slowly walk towards me, raising his arms as if he wanted a hug. I raised mine, smiling, telling him that everything's gonna be okay. But before I knew it, the guy was already lying on the floor bleeding, as I'm trying to get back to my senses from the gunshot that almost made me deaf. I was bamboozled and pissed, at the same time. I then saw Lopez in front of me, holding a gun, grinning widely.
