How could she be so indifferent? She seemed truly unbothered by the whole situation. He should be happy. Ally hadn’t given him a forlorn look, a lustful glance or done anything to indicate any feelings for him. Those were all wins. He had spent so much time promising Miranda he felt nothing for Ally, and that this was just a professional agreement. He made Miranda promises that having Ally here at the company would change nothing. Now, Ally was living up to that agreement, and he was failing. Really, Evan should have seen this coming. Everything happened so quickly back then. One minute he was celebrating Ally’s birthday. He finally felt like his life was coming together, and he could see a future with Ally and his new found adopted family. Ally was smiling and laughing as they fumble
